There are theological terrorists also, the people who would try to frighten people of the end of days, day of judgment, eternal hells and tortures therein. They shoot with their mouth, writings and web pages.

"Terrorist" is an interesting term to apply to them, and perhaps a bit problematic in some ways, but I see your point. There certainly are factions in many religions that exploit fear to persuade people. Many people find that sort of manipulation offensive, especially when it occurs in their own religion.

For instance, I have at least two or three Christian friends who are furious with 'hellfire and brimstone' preachers. Probably more upset with them than nearly any militant atheist.

I find the term Theological Terrorist such as a cool combination of words XD

Unfortunately, these groups have already been names. They are called Doomsday Cults.

At first I was thinking that "theological terrorist" was much akin to "abortion is murder".

But then Paul Hill came to mind.

I'm of two minds here. Personally I find those people just ridiculous.

On the other hand, there are people who get terrorized by those messages and some of them by no fault of their own, children especially. I can't blame children for believing that ****.

Theological terrorist, yes a good term, they do try to force you to their cause by terror. Really frightening if it were not so laughable

Whilst you have a point that seems technically true, beware the impracticality of treating those who terrorise with empty threats the same as those who terrorise with genuine threats (such as listed by @Estro Felino in post #3)

Maybe they see some truth in what they offer, maybe their is no truth in what they offer?

In the end, I am happy to sit with them and have a cup of tea and a chat.

    Love conquers all ;)

    Regards Tony

What I meant is that if they don't cross the line, I think they are entitled to have those theological convinctions.

Exactly. One is free to criticize their beliefs...but calling them terrorists is slightly unfair because they do not scare anybody:p

They scare children and I don't expect children to have the mental capacity to see through their empty threats (though some have). Therefore it should be prohibited to even try to terrorize children.

How do you propose to enforce it?

I don't. But I think it could be done in similar ways as other prohibited things are enforced. In Germany it is prohibited to show hard porn to minors. It is prohibited to call for crimes (not only minors). They have possibilities to enforce those.

They can scare vulnerable people who are perhaps experiencing a crisis in their lives.

I was reading about trauma-the little t and big T. The little t is similar to long lasting exposure to negative event that affects a person but not acute like big T such as being in a war, car crash, etc

Indoctrination can be considered a little t when it comes to parents being "terrorists" and influencing their children with guilt and obedience. Very different than say a pastor abuses one of her congregants.

Okay..but maybe I was not understanding how far they can go.
I have always had positive experiences with Christian fundamentalists even if I disagreed with them.
    Maybe concrete examples could help.

On the face of it, it seems like a mantra, but IMHO it is just as ineffective. They are people on a mission.
