If you already know those "rules" then why would you even need religion to teach them to you?

I heard a presiding bishopric member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints went over to the Raelians because he was gay. I know that Raelians are very friendly if not the most friendly to gay people. But I don't know if it would have prevented me from leaving the Raelians to go back to the LDS Church like I did.

Isn't "queer" a derogatory word for "gay"?
Raelians offer pleasantries for lesbians or straight men with their advocacy of topless rights for women. ...:D

Some find it offensive but most now a days say we've embraced the term. In fact while I am not gay I do identify as genderqueer- that is my gender isn't just male or just female but rather neither.

I know that watermelon is a good fruit for me
Still I go to the store and buy watermelon and eat it.
Knowing is not enough, I need to practise

In the supermarket I might find other good fruits
Otherwise I would go to another supermarket

Christians in Dallas have some nice huge GLBT churches that are very Supportive. Then again my UU church is awesome and also stands with GLBTS. UU and Unity are great. You can go to Zen Buddhists and I have no idea if they have issues with GLBTs because they never talk about politics, just meditate, therefore in a sense everyone is accepted.

To choose a religion because of your sexuality seems odd, but it certainly makes sense to reject one for that reason. Most monotheistic religions require you to believe that their god created you (which presumably includes your sexuality) and then condemns you for being what you are. One of the most disgraceful things about Christian missions is how they have indoctrinated Africans to persecute LGBT people, where traditional cultures accepted them.

Polytheism accepts everyone. Shenjiao (China} has a god for male homosexuals, Hu Tianbao. Hellenism accepts Sappho as a heroine and has myths about same-sex relationships, like Apollo and Hyacinth.

I kind of feel like God created men to be straight and women to be bisexual to be honest. If that's not the case, then why would He allow for polygamy? Why is it different for men if their wife dies versus women when their husband dies? I know in today's society, a man can be considered a widow, but that sounds silly and foreign to me after reading the Bible.

Stores don't really teach you anything new about watermelons. So I don't get the comparison.

In Heathenry, Freyr seems to be popular among gay and bisexual men.

It's been reclaimed and is often used as a political statement, referring to sexualities that fall outside of heteronormativity and the gay mainstream. It's intentionally vague and a lot of people like that.

Now that you mention it.....the Bible says that there is only "one Lord, one faith and one baptism" so I guess that means that there is only one religion that God recognizes......we had better recognize the same one.

But which one is the true one? Does anyone have it figured out? I would assume it's some small group somewhere that everyone ignores considering God is going to destroy this entire world supposedly...

And you didn't answer my question.

I'm not sure I could pick one top one, though I do think that even the "welcoming" Christian congregations have an asterisk on their empathy. As good or kind as they might be personally, they're working from some pretty hateful material.

Most say "queer," some say "questioning."

Or the Bible is made up BS, which is the more likely case.

Yes....just as the first Christians had to leave the apostate Jewish system, as one no longer recognised by Jesus as the true religion, we have to use this example to figure it out. Judaism has a modern day counterpart.

The first Christians were just a small group compared to the majority who stuck with the Pharisee's version of Judaism. Remember though, that Jesus was not sent to the religious leaders, but to the "lost sheep" who were in a poor spiritual condition because of how corrupted their shepherds had become. Jesus led them out of that apostate system and into a clean, new pen with a Shepherd who cared for them lovingly.

So what is the criteria that the Bible outlines for identifying genuine Christians?

    1) They understand who God is, and what his relationship is to his son. There is no trinity in the Bible. Jesus was Jewish and anyone claiming to be God would have been put to death for blasphemy. It was the Jews who tried to pin that charge on him so that they had an excuse to have him executed. Jesus never once said he was God. He only ever said he was "the son of God".

Christ was put to death as an innocent man (an unblemished lamb)....but if he was God, then he was guilty as charged.

    2) They live their Christianity 24/7.....They don't turn up at church, put on their Christianity at the door and then leave it there on their way out. They understand that they have responsibilities attached to their profession of the faith. It is a "cramped and narrow road" for a reason....not an easy path.

    3) They obey God's laws on moral issues, marriage and divorce, involvement in nationalistic issues, and in any other ways that other so-called Christians might ignore or justify their actions. (Especially with regard to political conflicts and bloodshed in war)

    4) They don't adopt pagan concepts and beliefs and pretend that they are Christian. So much of what is taught in Christendom is not from the Bible. Most people do not know what the Bible teaches because they rely on their church and its leaders to know it all for them.

    5) They understand what the Kingdom of God is, and what the "good news" about it means for us as human beings in the future. God did not put humans on earth as a training ground for heaven. He designed humans to live forever on this earth in paradise conditions.
They can preach about this "good news" to the world because they want to bless others and because Jesus commanded them to. The churches do not preach, and they have no unity.

In his parable of the "wheat and the weeds", Jesus indicated that "weeds" of false Christianity would be sown among the wheat, "while men were sleeping". It was foretold that Christianity would be corrupted from within, in much the same way as the Jewish religion was corrupted by the introduction of man-made traditions.

A careful study of the Bible will reveal what belongs in the Christian faith and what does not. Most people would be shocked to find out how much of what they have been taught is not true and not of Biblical origin.

There are more things that genuine Christians do that others do not.....but you get the gist as to what creates the difference.
