One of the things I admire about you is that you're so open. Openness often means vulnerability. In your offline world, C1, are you as open as you are online?
Yes, I actually am. I see no reason not to be. Not being open would be like not being myself or, in my opinion would be like being ashamed of myself or who I really am, which I'm not. I'm proud of myself and I love who I am, so I see no reason not to share that with othrs.
If so, do you find that makes you vulnerable?
Yes, perhaps it does, I can understand how it would, but at the same time, I think I'm more hard in my offline life. I'm open to the point that I let others know all about me, whatever they want to know about me, but I'm not one to easily let people in. I'm open about myself, but not where my emotions are concerned.
Is this a site where you feel freer to be yourself than, say, elsewhere on the internet?
I think I'm more myself on Myspace than I am here, but that's mainly because I couldn't care less what people on Myspace think about me. Here, however, I adore you all so much, that your opinions actually mean something to me. I think, though I am open here, I hide certain aspects of myself here, that I don't on Myspace.
If you could meet in the offline world three people from RF, besides myself, who would they be? And why?
Hmm..Definitely Becky because I can imagine we'd have a great time together. We seem to have a lot in common and I think we'd have a blast together.
Chrispy for sure because I'd love to take him to a concert. I think he'd be a lot of fun to go to a show and have a few beers with.
And....Wow, there's so many! Probably, if I had to choose only one more, it'd be PussyfootMouse. Everytime we talk I find we're more and more alike. I think she's an amazing woman and would just be so much fun to hang out with. That and I'd bring her to get a tattoo, haha.
One of my ex's was from Japan and had a grandfather who was recognized as such a good teacher that the Japanese erected a statue of him in a famous city park. The day we do something like that in North America for teachers is the day, I think, that our civilization can claim to have reached adulthood.
I completely and utterly agree with this. We put so much into pro athletes and politicians and such, when the real life heroes go unnoticed.
Do you enjoy all kinds of rock, then? Or are you mainly into one or another sub category?
I pretty much enjoy all kinds of rock. There are, of course, certain things I won't listen to, or won't even give a chance to (like Tool, no matter how many time Chrispy insists), but for the most part, I enjoy all of it. I do, however, listen to more Punk than anything. It's kind of my forte.
Was this planned or a tragic lawn mower accident?
One was planned, the other, actually, a hedgeclipper accident, not a lawnmower.
Do you see vegetarianism as a major part of your spiritual journey or is it something you do mostly for other reasons?
No, my vegetarianism has nothing to do with my spiritual journey. It's something I do because of my beliefs in animal "equality" (for lack of a better word). For a long time, before I became full vegetarian, I still ate meat, but wouldn't eat anything that gave birth to live young. Only chicken and fish for a few years. In my opinion, animals have just as much right to live in peace on this earth as we do, and just because we have the means or intelligence to exploit them and kill them for food (or leather, or clothing, or experiments), doesn't make them any less of a being and therefore are not ours to exploit.
In college, I met some folk from the Middle East who'd never expected to see women dressed as Westerners typically dress. Nice guys, but they weren't prepared for it, and thought all the women here were easy and promiscuous, if not actual prostitutes. Made for some interesting trips to the bars with them.
Heh! I can imagine. I understand this, it's just really annoying when you're one of those women who are looked at as if you were a prostitute. Especially considering I don't dress as scantily as a good majority of women (at least around here).
Good luck with that! Love's a wonderous thing. I think it's as much a way of seeing things, a way of looking, a perspective, as it is an emotion. Would you agree? Disagree?
It very much is. When you're in love, you feel that emotion in your heart, in your gut, but you also see things much differently. Love is blind, afterall.
Do you like abstract sculpture?
I certainly do. All forms of art appeal to me.
Can it reasonably be said that one reason you're such a good person to interview is that you have experience interviewing others?
This would make sense, yes. I understand what it takes to make a good interview. How to answer questions, and such, since I've been the one doing the interviews for years now, so yes, I can imagine there would be a correlation between the two. I think the fact that I'm not shy or closed is also a factor. I've nothing to hide.
What did you think of Picasso's choice in socks? Revolutionary? Burgeois? Or merely communist?
I think his choice in socks leans more to the Communist side than anything else.
It's a common rumor on RF that your copy of the Kama Sutra has your handwritten corrections in the margins. Is this true?
Yes, this is most definitely true. If only they'd let me publish my corrections, the intensity of things in bedrooms everywhere would improve so much. When you've had THIS much practice...
Would you marry an alien from outer space if there were no other way to save the earth?
Yes, I imagine I would. Especially if he was an attractive alien. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
What if the alien thought like George Bush?
Then perhaps I'd rethink my decision. Unless of course I could sew his lips together so I'd never have to hear him speak.
Do you always answer your phone when you possibly can? Or do you have certain things, such as supper, that you won't interrupt to take a call?
I actually despise talking on the phone. I quite often screen my phone calls and only answer them for certain individuals. For these certain people though, no, there's not many things that I won't interrupt for them.
