As far as I know the surah in Quran isnt exactly in the same sequence as they are given to prophet Muhammad (s.a.w). Do you know why when and where they are put in the sequence that Holy Quran has now?

From archaeological point of view this claim is not right . All old manuscripts that were found had exactly sequences the way see now . It proposes the arrangement of Surahs remained the same .

Yes of course all written versions are exactly in same sequence. But what I know the first message to prophet through Cebrail is 'iqra' ie 'read.' (surah al alaq I guess) but Quran stars with surah al fatihah.

Fatiha means opening .The simple question : Opening for what ? It is the opening of the Qur'an , with every respect . 'Iqra...' being the first verse revealed is found in Hadith , created 200 years after when the Qur'an already compiled and propagated to every corner of the world .

I dont know, I am asking these questions to learn. So just to make sure you are saying Quran Surahs are written in the same sequence that they are given to the prophet?
So perhaps verses in a surah didnt come all at once and at the same time and surahs were put into sequence according to whichever is completed first and the next one followed with the same logic?

May ALLAH (swt) help you in your learning endeavor . Yes my dear brother , the way Qur'an was arranged was also the sequence of revelation of chapters to our beloved Prophet .

Its a pleasure . If I understood you right , Almighty ALLAH (swt) sent single/Multiple verse(s) and/or single/multiple chapter(s) to Prophet in stages . Here are some verses that proposes this fact :

[024:034] We have already sent down to you verses making things clear, an illustration from (the story of) people who passed away before you, and an admonition for those who fear (God).

[009:064] The Hypocrites are afraid lest a Sura should be sent down about them, showing them what is (really passing) in their hearts. Say: "Mock ye! But verily God will bring to light all that ye fear (should be revealed).

[009:086] When a Sura comes down, enjoining them to believe in God and to strive and fight along with His Apostle, those with wealth and influence among them ask thee for exemption, and say: "Leave us (behind): we would be with those who sit (at home)."

[009:124] Whenever there cometh down a sura, some of them say: "Which of you has had His faith increased by it?" Yea, those who believe,- their faith is increased and they do rejoice.

[009:127] Whenever there cometh down a Sura, they look at each other, (saying), "Doth anyone see you?" Then they turn aside: God hath turned their hearts (from the light); for they are a people that understand not.

Hi there...if I understand correctly, you are asking about revelation order vs. the written Qur'an order. In short, whenever a verse was revealed to Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) via angel Gabriel, the order of the verse was made known to him.

"As for the order of the surahs (chapters), the most accepted view is that it was also applied following an instruction given by Almighty Allah. It has been recorded that the Prophet (saws) reviewed the Qur'an with the arch-angel Gabriel 24 times all within his life.

Every year, he used to review it once during the month of Ramadan with Gabriel. During the final year of the Prophet's life, Gabriel revised the Qur'an twice with the Prophet (saws) as a way of confirming it. The Prophet (saws), in turn, used to follow this order in teaching his Companions and communicating the message to them." - the above was taken from Revelation Order of the Quran , please read the article for more details.

    Peace.

Salaam sure...few examples from Sahih Hadith that shows that Surah Alaq was the first one and that the revelation order was different from written order.

    From Sahih Bukhari (http://www.sunnipath.com/library/Hadith/H0002P0069.aspx) :
VI: The arrangement of the Qur'an

4707. It is related that Yusuf ibn Mahik said, "I was with 'A'isha, the Umm al-Mu'minin, when an Iraqi came and said, 'What kind of shroud is best?' She said, 'Bother you! How will it harm you?' He said, 'Umm al-Mu'minin, show me your copy of the Qur'an.' 'Why?' she asked. He said, 'In order that I might arrange the Qur'an according to it. It is recited out of its proper order.' 'A'isha said, 'What harm will there be to you whichever part you read first? The first to be revealed was a sura of the Mufassal in which the Garden and the Fire is mentioned.* When many people joined Islam, then the halal and haram were revealed. If the first thing to be revealed had been, 'Do not drink wine,' people would have said, 'We will never give up wine.' If it had been revealed. 'Do not fornicate,' they would have said, 'We will never give up fornication.' When I was still a young girl who played, it was revealed to Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in Makka, "In fact the Hour is their promised appointment and the Hour is more disastrous and bitter!" (54:46) Surat al-Baqara (2) and Surat an-Nisa' (4) were revealed while I was with him.' Then she produced the copy of the Qur'an for him and dictated to him the order of the suras."

[*i.e. Surat al-'Alaq (96) or Surat al-Mudadaththir (74). The Mufassal begin with Surat Qaf (50), although other things are said.]

4708. It is said that Ibn Mas'ud was heard to say, "The suras Banu Isra'il, al-Kahf, Maryam, Taha and al-Anbiya' were among the first that I learned and they are part of the earliest Qur'an that I learned."

Another from Sahih Bukhari (Search the word read in the name in the Hadith (Hadis) Books (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu-Dawud, and Malik's Muwatta)) :
    1) Narrated 'Aisha: (the mother of the faithful believers) The commencement of the Divine Inspiration to Allah's Apostle was in the form of good dreams which came true like bright day light, and then the love of seclusion was bestowed upon him. He used to go in seclusion in the cave of Hira where he used to worship (Allah alone) continuously for many days before his desire to see his family. He used to take with him the journey food for the stay and then come back to (his wife) Khadija to take his food like-wise again till suddenly the Truth descended upon him while he was in the cave of Hira. The angel came to him and asked him to read. The Prophet replied, "I do not know how to read. The Prophet added, "The angel caught me (forcefully) and pressed me so hard that I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read and I replied, 'I do not know how to read.' Thereupon he caught me again and pressed me a second time till I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read but again I replied, 'I do not know how to read (or what shall I read)?' Thereupon he caught me for the third time and pressed me, and then released me and said, 'Read in the name of your Lord, who has created (all that exists) has created man from a clot. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous." (96.1, 96.2, 96.3) Then Allah's Apostle returned with the Inspiration and with his heart beating severely. Then he went to Khadija bint Khuwailid and said, "Cover me! Cover me!" They covered him till his fear was over and after that he told her everything that had happened and said, "I fear that something may happen to me." Khadija replied, "Never! By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you. You keep good relations with your Kith and kin, help the poor and the destitute, serve your guests generously and assist the deserving calamity-afflicted ones." Khadija then accompanied him to her cousin Waraqa bin Naufal bin Asad bin 'Abdul 'Uzza, who, during the PreIslamic Period became a Christian and used to write the writing with Hebrew letters. He would write from the Gospel in Hebrew as much as Allah wished him to write. He was an old man and had lost his eyesight. Khadija said to Waraqa, "Listen to the story of your nephew, O my cousin!" Waraqa asked, "O my nephew! What have you seen?" Allah's Apostle described whatever he had seen. Waraqa said, "This is the same one who keeps the secrets (angel Gabriel) whom Allah had sent to Moses. I wish I were young and could live up to the time when your people would turn you out." Allah's Apostle asked, "Will they drive me out?" Waraqa replied in the affirmative and said, "Anyone (man) who came with something similar to what you have brought was treated with hostility; and if I should remain alive till the day when you will be turned out then I would support you strongly." But after a few days Waraqa died and the Divine Inspiration was also paused for a while. Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah Al-Ansari while talking about the period of pause in revelation reporting the speech of the Prophet "While I was walking, all of a sudden I heard a voice from the sky. I looked up and saw the same angel who had visited me at the cave of Hira' sitting on a chair between the sky and the earth. I got afraid of him and came back home and said, 'Wrap me (in blankets).' And then Allah revealed the following Holy Verses (of Quran): 'O you (i.e. Muhammad)! wrapped up in garments!' Arise and warn (the people against Allah's Punishment),... up to 'and desert the idols.' (74.1-5) After this the revelation started coming strongly, frequently and regularly." (Book #1, Hadith #3)

Also, as noted in the other article I posted initially : "The Prophet (saws) once told his Companions after he had received a certain revelation that the arch-angel Gabriel had specified for him the particular order of verses (Ahmad)."

    Peace.

Salaam and thanks for providing those Ahadith . But where in them it was said that the Wahi came to Prophet for the serial arrangement of the Qur'an as you proposed ? Forgive me if I miss something .

I am not sure what you are asking. What the Hadiths I quoted clearly shows is that the sequence of revelation is different from sequence of current day Qur'an and first hadith I quoted shows some of the revelation sequences (which is clearly different from the current sequence). But if you are asking about the exact list of sequence from the link I posted, I would imagine the scholars found it from the copies of the Qur'an with the companions and the companions who memorized it and reviewed with the Prophet(pbuh) knew the sequence - that's exactly what the first hadith illustrates - that a man came to Ayesha(ruh) to copy her sequences.

    Hope this clarifies the issue.

What I wanted to know if there any Hadith that suggested that there was a divine order form Almighty GOD to prophet to arrange the sequence of the Qur'an haphazardly apart from the sequence of revelation .

Okay to make the point more simple , is there any Sahih Hadith exist that suggests Almighty ALLAH ordered Prophet Muhammad to put Surah Alaq in 96-th position in sequence of the arrangement of the Qur'an though it revealed first .

Hope it simplifies my inquiry .
