Sex and demons

VoidCat

Pronouns: he/him/they/them
So I was reading this book and the book had a chapter on stories regrading consensual sex and supernatural beings. Now I don’t believe anything is supernatural, all is part of nature however I can’t think of a better term so I’ll use it. In one story a woman had a consensual sexual relationship with a female ghost. In another it spoke of people who summon demons to have a sexual relationship with. Apparently there are forums for this kind of thing and the people on the forums feel that they are being persecuted against. Anyway so my question is this:

Assuming such beings are real, is it ethical to have a relationship with a ghost or a demon if it’s consensual?

Can a ghost or demon give consent?

Ethical? If it's consensual, it's difficult to say without knowing the consequences for al the parties involved.

I read about something similar. On that forum, the members felt targeted due to their mental and emotional weaknesses. Preying on these weaknesses to coerce people into intimacy was the primary issue. Having sex with non-human spiritual being(s)? Not so much :)

It seems to me that if we're talking ethics, we could zoom out and include aliens in the question.

To me, two things seem important:

- consent
- an understanding of the cultural significance of the act, if any

Maybe ghosts/demons are just horny little devils.

And can a human understand the cultural significance of sex in ghost societies?

It wouldn't be consensual if the demon is a Succubus or Incubus since they hypnotise, mind control, or pheromone control, etc, their victims in order to suck out their souls for nourishment. Then the victim dies, with a skeletal smile on their face...

This type of sexual encounter wouldn't be consensual on the human victims part.

What? Me worry?
A ghost may want sex but if they'll never say they love you because they know you can see right through them...just sayin'.

Yes, I would even encourage it out of pure curiosity of what the offspring might look like :D

I believe these kinds of books come at the expense of the mental health of schizophrenics, like so many other crazy things in our entertainment sections. These seem worse than a lot of things. Worse than that is when they put something like this under nonfiction. There are things that are just so lowdown that they shouldn't be done, and selling books to make life worse for schizos is one of those things that are lowest of the low. 'Scum' comes to mind when I think of certain such authors. Often they're peddling exorcism to church members, and I think that is just about the worst thing.

I'm not saying it is the case but it is possible for one's subconscious mind to create autonomous entities to experience a relationship with. In such a case the only conscious entity involved in the relationship is you. So while you may not have conscious control over the entity your subconscious mind does. If one wants to feel guilty for enslaving created by their own mind, I suppose that is up to them.

Even if it were the case that such entities exist external to your mind they have no legal standing. So certainly not illegal however ethics is up to you unless you share with others, then maybe they will judge you.

In either case, it is all up to you. You make the determination. You decide the ethics. Whatever you feel comfortable with.

If I have to assume the demons are "real", then I have to also assume that the sexual interaction is mutual and consensual. But I don't see the point in making such bizarre assumptions.

To me, the far more interesting question to ponder is why these folks need to create (or otherwise manifest) invisible spirits to have a sexual experience. What psychological damage must they have suffered to cause them to need to go to such bizarre lengths just to experience a meaningful sexual encounter? And is there some way we could help them gain a more functional and realistic relationship with their sexuality?

Spend about a week on an online dating site, and let me know if you still find the proposal of a relationship with a human appealing.

Everything should be presumed to be ethical until shown otherwise. It's an aspect of the guideline for all behavior: freedom in all things is a given unless shown otherwise.

Trying to take anything online as "real" is about the equivalent of having sex with demons. :) None of it has much of anything to do with reality.

I feel bad for young people who grew up with the internet and learned about sex from porn sites. They had no idea that pornography had nothing to do with how humans actually engage in sex, and is instead entirely about exploiting people's ignorance and weakness for money. No wonder they want to copulate with demons!

Depends on your base beliefs. If you are a Satanist, probably no problem. If you are a Christian, not ethical nor accepted.
