"After years of being skewered by programs like Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, the controversial church with a celebrity following is taking to TV to tell its own truth.

The church announced on its official Twitter account Sunday that the Scientology Network will debut Monday (March 12). According to the organization, its programming will be available on DirecTV, Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, iTunes, Google Play and the website Scientology.tv.

DirecTV representative Steven Schwadron confirmed Monday’s DirecTV launch to USA TODAY.

“HELLO WORLD, and greetings from Scientology Media Productions in Hollywood, CA,” read a tweet from @ScientologyTV, an account set up for the endeavor. “It’s TIME for us to tell OUR story …” The post also included a promotional video.

“The only thing more interesting than what you’ve heard is what you haven’t,” the promo promises. The ad also features an e-meter, described as “the cutting edge of spiritual technology.” According to Scientology’s website, the electronic instrument is used by auditors in sessions with members to check they are addressing “the correct area in order to discharge the harmful energy connected with that portion of the preclear’s reactive mind.”

“It’s actually making a difference in the world,” a voice says offscreen in the video. “That’s what it’s all about.”

Their target prey audience tends to be those who are both wealthy and gullible.

It’s TIME for us to tell OUR story…” read the Tweet "....money, money, money, money and more money" the Tweet went on to say, "We've continued to screw over thousands of gullible people and destroy families and segregate people for society but most of all, we've got your money".
The first episode promised to be David Miscavige showing us several suitcases filled to the brim with $1,000 notes. The show has promised to be a hit!

    Xenu TV... oh joy... *Sigh*

When you own dad leaves your group, after 20+ years and writes a book called, "Ruthless", you know you have really gone off the rails.

They prey upon anyone they can get their fingers clutched around. Poor or rich, they take them all in. The wealthy such as Tom Cruise are treated like royalty, and who go in poor tend to become poorer and are relegated to grunt work, even slave labor by many accounts. All the while celebrities are lavishly gifted for attracting new members. With Scientology, their locations and methods of operation are deliberate, with the intention and purpose of putting themselves close to those with celebrity status.

Scientology is another reason we really need to reconsider the extents religions may go under the First.

While they aren't blowing themselves up like a number of Salafi Muslims have, but we do find find "cultish" characteristics such as isolating members away from the world, putting them at risk due to the "church" being a financial burden and expecting money, they have made efforts to ruin the lives of members who left the church, and what they consider day care for the children isn't exactly up to par.

They all have their share of evils.
At least Scientology is smaller than the competition.

They are actually internationally large, worth billions, and are much larger than other cult competitors like Branch Davidians, Jonestown, or Heaven's Gate.

They don't hold a candle to various flavors of Xianity, Islam, etc.

From what I've read a while back, they charge an arm and a leg for their little courses and tests, which always result in "requiring" further testing. Apparently you can't "advance" without them. If you don't have deep pockets, they aren't interested.

Edit: I just found this reddit thread on the subject: How expensive is Scientology really? • r/scientology

Well, for the most part they're all dead, so they can't really offer too much competition. ;)

Well it really isn't a religion. They cashed out to call themselves a religion to get away from the shotty pseudo-psychology they where selling as a self-help book series and program - which was getting Hubbard into a lot of ****

Not only that, but as it was and is pseudo-psychology - they are able to charge a fortune for treatments and membership, like doctors do.
Thing is, the government (collectively) doesn't take too lightly to people scamming under the banner of science - as science and health-care are really, really serious professions (which is also why they pay really well).

Part of the whole "Scientology is now a religion" that Hubbard attempted, was to include the likes of Xenu in the 3rd OT, further exploration of morals (which is ironic, to say the least) and expanded the smaller goal of simply scamming people for what they think is attainment and mental health - to making it about transcending beyond the psychical realm into infinity......for $$$$.

To put it bluntly to anyone here: The "religion" of Scientology was a decision made as a "overnight" addition to save Hubbard's head (on the firing range) from a lot of allegations. Ironically (again), Hubbard was been cut down on it by the CIA (and others) towards the end of his life anyway - even as he died.
