There are a lot of media reports in both directions.

So I was wondering where this came from assuming there's something being misreported in parts of the media.

https://kfcris.com/pdf/cc53a3201f65554c400886325b5f715e5f577d35934f7.pdf has this:
Saudi Arabia allowed foreign universities to open branch campuses in the country for the first time.

It's possible that the branch campuses can teach other religions than Islam and that Saudi students can take such courses there. But I saw nothing in the cited PDF about changes to the religious curriculum in the Saudi educational system outside of eliminating extremist teachers and doctrine.

It's not about teaching religion at all.

The link I posted explains.
