Satan in Judaism: A Friend or Foe?

My sense is that Satan developed into a singular entity under Zoroastrian influence. In my opinion, there is less than one HaSatan.

I lean in the same direction, and I think the Greek influence later reinforced the concept.

So i don't want to imply what Satan exactly does according to Judaism but we just agree that he do things, definitely not something in human's favor. Is that right? or he is somehow sent by God to test humans, which makes it something positive?

Sorta like "Coyote" with some of the Amerindian tribes: the "trickster".
