The reporting I've seen has been pretty balanced, and suggested the prosecution might have some challenges in pricing their case, although Rittenhouse will need to argue that each of three shootings was in self defence.

Regardless, one might suggest a 17 year old with an illegally obtained assault rifle in a dangerous place after curfew is a risk to himself and others.

For me, I'll watch the case with interest, and have some faith in the US legal system, if not her pollies.

If we applied the wisdom of that saying to the Rittenhouse case, we would say that "the eating" (3 people shot, 2 fatally) is the proof of "the pudding" (Rittenhouse's motives for showing up armed at that protest).

I doubt that anyone will actually apologize here, neither Biden, Rittenhouse, nor the journalists. Nothing anyone can do now except let the case proceed and be tried on its own merits.

Thanks to the internet, one has access to multiple news outlets and points of view, so one can peruse any number of different takes on this case. No one has a monopoly on the news.

It does appear that the prosecution's case against Rittenhouse may be going sour. Another case of note which is also currently being tried and getting a fair amount of attention is the Ahmaud Arbery case in Georgia.

The main problem I have with the media is not so much due to bias, since that's usually easy to spot, as long as one has the ability to differentiate between fact and opinion.

My main issue is in how media generally present events as disconnected from each other, forging an impression in the public that "these things just happen." They don't really delve much into cause-and-effect, nor do they even seem to care all that much about that. Such things are too boring and complicated for a myopic public with a short attention span and short memories to understand. The media seem more geared towards drama, gossip, and emotionalism, since that's what sells.

It is something one cannot do in a trial, like saying that an orange is fuchsia or that the sky is green.

Too many people were attacking the boy, who was alone.

So you're saying it was mutual combat? That may have been the case. However, considering the circumstances and why these people were in the middle of a civil disturbance in the first place, then maybe it was a case of "pawn vs. pawn." That doesn't make Rittenhouse innocent, though. He chose to go up there with a weapon and join the fray.

He may ultimately be found not guilty in this particular court case. The prosecution might have gotten him on lesser charges, but I don't know for sure.
