I'm not watching a half hour video on something as stupid as the God of the Gaps. What point were you trying to make.
The God of the Gaps is rarely more than a strawman. People who actually believe in such a God are few and not worth considering.i see you're not interested...but
why is it stupid?

FTR, I'm willing to discuss your point if you have one.
Facts are supportable; this is opinion. Mine differs.my point is, my opinion is based on the fact that the great minds of the past came to their limits of their knowledge because they had "god on their minds"
Considering that you just mentioned several of the giants of science, I have no idea what you're complaining about.i'm talking about ptolemy, galileo, newton, huygens and laplace. and even in saudi arabia the religion of the region retarded the many advances in math and medicine...between 800-1100 ce.
Not really. They're like YECs without the political clout.saying that "these people" who actually believe in such a god are few and not worth considering is an over statement...
Religion slows progress. Had religion not existed, and science been the primary resource in which we use to conclude as to what we believe, we would have advanced much, much earlier.
Unsubstantiated opinion, given that you have no alternative for comparison.

Prove it, then.religion has slowed down progress...that is a fact, not an opinion.
Prove it, then.
No, you didn't.i did.
No, you didn't.
Exactly.opinion isn't fact...
i tried to show you something but you refuse to see it...your loss.
Yeah, and it didn't hinder their achievements one bit.those great minds i listed each have said, "god did it" because of their religion...so yeah, religion has retarded progress.
Exactly.
Yeah, and it didn't hinder their achievements one bit.
Speculation isn't fact, either.
yes it did....that is the point i am making.
Without religion there would be no renaissance in the west. Do a google search: Islam and renaissance.
Speculation isn't fact, either.
Isn't that akin to blaming the matches for the building burning down?
"Things would have been different if..." is not history.sure, if you consider history speculation
"Things would have been different if..." is not history.
No, I don't.i never said things would be different...you have me confused with someone else...
they were hindered, that is historical fact...i never said "if only they weren't", they were...No, I don't.
You maintain that these geniuses were hindered by God-belief.
**sigh**Implicit in that is the statement that they would have accomplished more had they been atheists.
