I live in Australia and plastic bags have been a thing of the past for me for about a year now. All the major grocery stores sell reusable bags for less than a dollar each. Just keep a bunch in your boot/trunk and you're good to go. Whining about a plastic bag phase out is absurd.
Agreed. It’s such a first world problem that even spoilt brat mellinials are pointing and laughing at such a temper tantrum.
Just toss one in your car or even in your purse/bag. Hell some are collapsible to the point of fitting into one’s pocket. If you accidentally forget, just buy one or just toss your shopping into the trolley “naked” if you’re really that cheap. (I once served a gentleman who stole our left over produce boxes so he didn’t have to buy bags, so I have seen some “interesting” lengths people will go to lol.)

It's entirely the socialist left who's responsible btw, so yes, its political.

The tentacles of the Red Menace are spreading far and wide... Run to the hills!

ZOMG WERE ALL DOOMED!!! Some of the Mooslim countries are doin' it! Sharia is being forced down all our throats!

And to think that so many sheeple still insist that Intersectional Sharia Globalist Communism funded by the Jooooozzzz George Soros is just a myth!

I'll give you my disposable plastic bags when you pry them from my cold, dead hands!

Maybe some people like plastic other than self entitled individuals with a royalty complex who think their way is always going to be superior and enjoy the sight of seeing other people forced into their self-absorbed view on how people must live and do things.

Get a grip dude. We've had 10c plastic bags in Queensland, and plastic bag bans in other states, for some time now. The Sun continues to shine, the cows continue to give milk, the sky continues to stay up. Your (collective) instant spasmodic vituperation to any attempt to change social, cultural and/or environmental practices for the better is tiresome.

If you're (personal, directed) that worried about it, I will personally, at my own personal expense, send you some re-usable shopping bags. Will that help assuage your concerns about the imminent fall of Western civilisation?

You can still fill your reusable bags with all the self-destructive choices you want. I have no interest in telling you how to live. The only difference is a small expense (mere cents) on your part and much less rubbish clogging up waterways, shorelines and landfills. You call others self-entitled, all the while crying because a small charge on plastic bags may force you to make a trivial change to how you shop. Good grief.

Maybe some people like cutting flesh off humans to wear for clothing..and leaded fuel.

Imagine thinking it superior to not cause needless pollution, damage to wildlife, make nature less beautiful while also reducing the amount of plastics entering the food chain damaging the health of humans and other animals!

Imagine being entitled to the extent you don't put a very minor personal inconvenience over an objective improvement to our environment and personal health!

Anyway, well done, you have united RF posters from the libertarian right to the socialist left in finding your whiny entitlement somewhat bizarre on such a trivial issue with such clear benefits. Congratulations :trophy: :clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping:

Plastic Bags to Be Banned in New York State

I seem to remember plastic bags coming on the scene in the day because of the destruction of forests and the habitation of animals buy liberal environmentalists and tree hugging sympathizers. All those hippie days.......

Of course in the People's Republic of New York, it's fine to return to paper bags for "ahem" a $0.05 paper bag fee. Which of course I'm sure we'll go to the 'appropriate' end-user of said fees.

Of course I'll have to dig out my soiled and dirty grocery bag that was laying under that pile of moldy rags in the corner of my garage all these years.

I can't wait to see my fellow comrades at the grocery store to see who wins the most disgusting bag contest while waiting in the breadline as the spores and viruses from everyone's filthy bags permeate the grocery store air and make everybody sick and contaminate the food.
This is great if a belated move. Plastic bags are already being banned even in most Indian metros and the US should immediately follow suite.

Hopefully that point sinks in. Plastic bags are terrible for the environment, they have an extremely short and limited use span but extremely long life span, and they are so unnecessary and wasteful.
I once served a gentleman who stole our left over produce boxes so he didn’t have to buy bags, so I have seen some “interesting” lengths people will go to lol.
Over here, at Aldi, even in states where plastic bags are the norm, it's normal practice for customers to grab an empty or near empty cardboard box or tray to put their things in. The store doesn't have to dispose of it and the costumer gets something to carry their food in, so for us at least it seems odd to think of it as theft.

Your desire for freedom from moral constraints is immoral and narcissitic.
What sort of a Buddhist are you?

I wouldn't go that far. I do see things for what they really are though.

No one , and I mean nobody can effectively practice morality and environmental stewardship without causing great damage. Remember the adage that the road to hell is oftentimes paved with good intentions.

I'm much more for education and setting examples than legalism because it's more contagious and less damaging overall.
