Leftist Nannyism continues in the People's Republic of New York

Does that equal socialist left, then? Is the entire left socialist in your eyes?
Wellington Wells is wonderful this time of year...
Have you ever come across any conservative left? That would actually be interesting.

Oh joy! That's wonderful! ;0)

I guarantee a couple of decades from now we will go right back to paper bags are destroying the rainforest again perpetuating this endless cycle of leftist ideology.

It's not about the bag issue specifically, it's about people's (and businesses) freedom to choose.
Wanna chose to make and use asbestos in your paint? Too bad. You don't have the freedom to choose that. We ban many things, especially chemicals, because they are too destructive (often to the point of infringing on the rights and reasonable health expectations of others, just as plastic bags do). You non-existent "freedom to choose" be damned.

Plastic Bags to Be Banned in New York State

I seem to remember plastic bags coming on the scene in the day because of the destruction of forests and the habitation of animals buy liberal environmentalists and tree hugging sympathizers. All those hippie days.......

Of course in the People's Republic of New York, it's fine to return to paper bags for "ahem" a $0.05 paper bag fee. Which of course I'm sure we'll go to the 'appropriate' end-user of said fees.

Of course I'll have to dig out my soiled and dirty grocery bag that was laying under that pile of moldy rags in the corner of my garage all these years.

I can't wait to see my fellow comrades at the grocery store to see who wins the most disgusting bag contest while waiting in the breadline as the spores and viruses from everyone's filthy bags permeate the grocery store air and make everybody sick and contaminate the food.
Well, I guess that’s the thing about the left; see a problem, try to help out; analyze how it’s working; if it’s not working well, then adapt and overcome. This technique is used by winning businesses too. ;)

It sure seems to work a heck of a lot better than cowering and stagnating in conservative unchanging traditions, for no other reason than......”that’s just the way it is, so don’t ask questions!”

As a card carrying citizen of the state of New York, I am proud of our state government for taking this good step forward, joining California, Hawaii, as well as several large cities throughout the nation that have recognized the problem plastic bags are causing, and are brave and intelligent enough to do something about it.

This was 9 years ago. Odds are it has increased. Plastic is cheap and convienent but bad for the environment. We can do better than that.

In 2010, eight million tons, twenty two thousand tons per day, of plastic trash ended up in the ocean from coastal countries.

Intelligent no.

Like a lot of socialist leftist policies and laws and what comes of them.

Sounds like a great natural resource to exploit.

Converting Plastic to Oil

I doubt we'll ever see something like that come to the Socialist People's Republic of New York.

The Socialist People's Republic of New York only care about banning, controlling people, and taxing people.

You won't mind it and you won't miss seeing plastic bags flying and floating around.

I've read on this before. Its worth a try.

  • The conversion ratio for waste plastic into fuel averages 86%.
  • Approximately 1 gallon of fuel is extracted from 8.3 lbs. of plastic.
  • The processor uses its own off-gases as fuel (approximately 10-12% of process output); minimal energy is required to run the machine.
  • Approximately 2-4% of the resulting product is Petcoke (Carbon Black), a high BTU fuel.
  • Emissions are lower than a natural gas furnace of similar size, and the quality of the emissions improve with increased feed rates.

Those numbers have gotten better. Last time I seen anything like that, it took so much plastic that it really wasn't feasible to collect the oil for any commercial applications (or any applications, really).
The issue of collecting plastic in the ocean is, is that it's in the ocean. We can easily enough get to just some of it. Most of it would be too costly and difficult to get. Some of it there is no getting. Some is better than none, but I have to wonder if it would be a viable solution to solving the problem of all the plastic in the ocean. Unfortunately, we'll probably all be eating plastic when we eat ocean-fish for the very long foreseeable future.

I bought my wife a leather tote bag for shopping, AOC would be so proud of us for doing our part with helping eliminate some cow's environmentally destructive farting. ...:)
