Lady Gaga does it again with over-the-top "Telephone" video

My brother peed on a hornets nest when he was little and got stung all around his forehead. I don't know whether it was a highly talented delivery, but the hornets apparently didn't appreciate his art.

Your brother sounds like he was a little *** hole, who deserved to be stung. :p

Ah, Gaga does indeed have talent. It's understandable to say that it isn't your taste, but it isn't when there is a lack of talent involved.

If that's the case, then anyone ought to be able to carry a tune, do the exact steps in time to the song, and to perform on cue. Go ahead....find 10 people off the street who can perform the exact same way. It can't be done.

I see it all the time when people audition for me who think that if shaking their thang is so easy that they should get in my show. Fuh-get it...they have to shake their thang with proper alignment and with stage presence at the very very least.

That doesn't make Gaga a great dancer. Don't get me wrong. But no talent? That's disingenuous.

It's my job to recognize where performers have their strengths and where they are weak according to their goals. I'd be a horrible teacher if I waved off performers telling them they have absolutely no talent, don't even try, give it up, etc.

Anyway, just a little clarification here on how I work in show business. ;)

I do think there is an element of whoring out her talent in her work, and that can be a deathblow to actual talent, it can turn a gifted person into a hack.

I think you can find 10 people..if you train them long enough and pay them enough you can definately find 10 people off the street that can do what she does.

I never said I didnt think she was "driven".

I am not sure you would find an audience though, and the audience is really the thing, forget Shakespeare.

LOL, well now. If you train somebody long enough, talent and skill tend to be present, isn't it?

You're kinda proving my point for me.:clap

No, actually I don't know whether he even knew it was there. It was inside a rotting log which was on the ground. He was about 8, so it's certainly plausible that he knew, but also plausible that he didn't. He didn't mess with hornets after that.

So I take back what I said originally.

I saw this video and it completely changed how I felt about Ga Ga. It is so freakin awesome....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrO4YZeyl0I

AND THEN I saw this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIvhs1DLHEI

Now I am waiting for acoustic versions of her songs.

And she wasn't lip singing. You can hear her voice shaking a little while dancing. That is just incredible. She has amazing talent.

Then I read her interview in Cosmo. I love how she said that she felt like she was always weird and never fit in, and that she tries to create an artistic space for all of the girls who feel that way, or something like that.

She said also that everyone always said she was too theatrical or too pop...

I think she writes and sings her own original work, and then for production they get tweaked. I don't know. But she is incredible.

I'm no fan of Lady Gaga in the way that I'm no fan of anything that is currently popular. :D

However, I think the sexuality and death-imagery is playing with the mysteries of the human experience, and is thus as spiritual and magical as any art ever done.

I didn't see anything wrong with the video. Except that I don't think Lady Gaga and Beyonce are very good actresses... I liked the part where Lady Gaga made a sammich, and I liked that they killed everyone. I think they are both good singers, but not good at acting. Not judging by this anyway...

My mom has a karaoke machine, and she always wants me to sing, but all she has is country music CDs. But she also has a 70's hits CD and a Destiny's Child CD. Those are the only ones I'll sing to. :D I know that has nothing to do with the thread, but the connection is Beyonce...

somehow, i get the feeling that within a year, none of gaga's current fans will even remember her name. that seems to happen to poppers, tho certainly deservingly. it is my firm belief that good musicians stopped being produced in the mid 90s.

Thoughts? Think she's gone too far? How would you feel about kids watching even a "clean" version of the video? Is she carving out a pop culture legacy a la Madonna and Michael Jackson?

Or, more simply, did you like the video? :D

Just quoting in case any one wants to watch it again... After seeing it a few times I have to say... I dont think the video does anything for beyonce... Its fairly boring... An much of it seems evil for the sake of being evil...

Still gonna watch it again.

Thou art That
Here artistry and talent cannot be denied. It just sounds to me like she is using it as a vehicle to justify her feelings of revenge and hatred against men.

I also see it as dangerous, in that it sends a message to our young that violence is OK if you feel it is justified by your feelings.
