It looks like free speech in the UK is now on the slippery slope.

"Following a consultation, the UK government said on Wednesday it planned to legislate to ensure companies had systems in place to tackle harmful content such as child abuse, cyber bullying and terrorist propaganda."

This Is exactly what the government should do.
I suppose you support Child abusers Cyber bullying And Terrorists
These are all things that are illegal in the UK
On line entities should be required to comply with the law.

On this site these things are already banned and regulated by the moderators.
Global sites should do no different.

We do not need thought police prepared to take action against non-crimes.

We already have laws to punish criminals such as those industrial scale rape crimes that Tommy Robinson has been punished for exposing.

Let’s concentrate on the punishment of the real criminals instead of silencing those that wish to see real justice done.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
So for UK politicians, the internet is going to be used as a tool for controlling the masses, by forcefully teaching people to speak a certain way.

....Sounds like something China, or a Muslim country would do. Disgusting
That's happening right now in the US with the socialist Democrats using the nanny state in creating and enforcing speech laws on people.

You discredit anty credibility you might have had, by supporting the disgraced criminals Like Yaxley Robinson.

The problem is you're going to cloister people over the course of time to the realities that surround us using insulating policies. Not to mention the abuse that can come from that through the use of falsified propaganda.

Let's use the extreme example of the people in North Korea. They will not be prepared if the s*** ever hits the fan. The shock will do a lot more harm imo.

the North Korea comparison does not hold water.
Each new British government has the power to to rewrite the laws of the land. The laws that are in place on these matters have been fully supported by the right and left. The present proposals are being advanced by the right wing conservatives. the proposals transcend party politics .. it is what the people of the UK consider essential.

And by the fascist Republicans using their dictatorship to ban books they don't like and enforcing prayer in schools.

(I don't really believe that, just following along with the hyperbole.)

My opinion started with the determination made by the UN. Maybe a little sooner than that even.

UK Surveillance Regime Violated Human Rights

A comparison of American and English Civil Liberties

The Slow Death of Free Speech in Britain (America, You're Next!)

It's been downhill ever since and I don't see us Yanks being very far behind if the socialist Democrats reacquire Presidential power.

It's bad enough here as it is. I can't imagine how it is for those in the UK, England, and Britain. I can only compare it to living in a waking nightmare.

At any rate, I don't consider our overseas compatriots as being a free people anymore and has lost the will to fight to bring those freedoms back.

I suppose we could all scan for which country scores on what - here's a few:

https://www.usnews.com/news/best-co...9/these-are-the-freest-countries-in-the-world

You are being redirected...

So, the UK is in the top ten - out of 159, but only 33rd on press freedoms:

2019 World Press Freedom Index | RSF

The UK, to me, seems as free as most, even if we seem to top the CCTV and surveillance charts - but where no doubt many are clever enough to evade the latter anyway (needs must :D). I suppose some of us are more than a little grateful to not have so many guns available such that we generally feel safe enough - apart from certain areas, and which is probably the norm for many countries.

Tommy Robinson was and still is a whistleblower much to the displeasure of the establishment.

We need more whistleblowers, not less.

As you guys know, my Matthew:heart: is one of the most outspoken voices against the Islamization of Europe.

It is an overwhelming joy to see His Majesty the Sultan of London react this way.

Nobody is going to like the UK anymore if this keeps up.

he never has been a whistle blower. he is a simple extreme right wing law breaker.
The authorities do not waste their time thinking about him. when he breaks the law he gets imprisoned. Simples....
