Is premarital sex really a sin?

I beleive the Bible mentions prostitutes and they aren't married.

Oh, but they are married. They are married to each person they had sex with. All prostitutes are adulterers and bigamists.

Pre-marital sex should be considered a sin. It can lead to unwanted pregnancies, unnecessary abortions and moral decadence.

It is considered a sin.

IOW I beleive it doesn't matter to you what God thinks about it becuase what you think is more important.

God created us the way God did -- male, female, gay, straight. God called that creation "very good." I think I'm aware of what God thinks about it.
