I didn't want to be gay. My "coming out" included sitting in the parking lot of a gun store, trying to work up the courage to go in and buy one. So I wouldn't have to leave the parking lot.

For a couple of years in the beginning as a teenager dealing with the realization that I was gay, I didn't want to be gay either. I resorted to religion and prayer, none of which worked. I remained gay, and after a couple of years I accepted it as a perfectly normal part of who I am.
