so sin, is a sin, based on what we believe it is?
That is not something I was addressing. It is usually a mistake to purposely do something you think is wrong.

so there is no objective way to determine what a sin is then your saying?
No, I wasn't commenting upon that, and I don't wish to comment on that topic either.
so your saying that wasting time on something is a matter of judgement
Individuals must manage time themselves, and no one else can do it for them. The thread is about whether masturbation is a sin that would put a person into hell. I think that wasting time is a worse sin though the two may overlap. So much time is lost. Proverbs 18:9 suggests "One who is slack in his work is brother to him that destroys." 2 Timothy 2:4 says "No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer." Hebrews 6:12 "We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised." There are lots of others, too. Proverbs 6:6 says "Go to the ant, you sluggard, consider its ways and be wise." Many Christians down through the ages have realized what a sin it is to be idle. They've dedicated all of their time to good work, and some them are well known for it. Their testimony is valid on this point, too; because their unselfish work validates that they believe in staying busy.

In the Islamic point of view, watching porn is a sin, and I see that if it is mixed with masturbation, only one sin, that of watching porn, is counted!

My 2 cents!

yes, very true ... watching porn while masterbating!

I believe the latest bylaws in the court of eternal justice up there in the sky will condemn you for for both sins, but lucky for you, you will only have to serve 1x life in burning hell concurrently ... that's better than nothing, isn't it?

hehe

I believe that masturbation is grave matter. If it is done with full consent of the will and knowledge that it is grave matter then it is a mortal sin and you will go to Hell for it if you die without repenting either via an Act of Contrition or by going to Confession. That's my opinion.

Nope, the truth is even better!

Not even watching porn condemns to hell all by it self. It could be a cause to it, but only by itself, nope!

Be careful tho, misspelling "masturbating" in a grave sin and condemns you to hell in the latest bylaws in the court of eternal justice... of the internet

Easy then.

All you have to do is to do it without the will and knowledge that it is grave matter. Ergo, only catholics are in danger.

By the way, what is the equivalent in currency (amounts of hail maries) to clean it up after confession?

LOL. That reminds me of Monty Python's "Life of Brian" where that guy about to be stoned sinfully pronounced "Jehovah" once again.

That is not something I was addressing. It is usually a mistake to purposely do something you think is wrong.

Actually, if you do something then you TRULY don’t think it’s wrong period. So, no one does what they think is wrong, if they do it, they think it’s good or ok. If they truly thought it was wrong, they would not do it.

No, I wasn't commenting upon that, and I don't wish to comment on that topic either.

Ok, would you comment on it in relation to masturbation? Can we know objectively if masturbation is a sin? If yes, tell me?

Individuals must manage time themselves, and no one else can do it for them. The thread is about whether masturbation is a sin that would put a person into hell. I think that wasting time is a worse sin though the two may overlap. So much time is lost. Proverbs 18:9 suggests "One who is slack in his work is brother to him that destroys." 2 Timothy 2:4 says "No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer." Ok, so, masturbation is a waste of time your saying and that is why it’s a sin because wasting time is a sin. So, what if I sit on my sofa and look at the wall and just relax, is that a sin? Because I am “wasting time”?

Also, what if one spends 8 hours at work, then 1 hour researching, 1 hour praying/meditating and there witnessing is done at work, and they give to a charity. They spend a total of an hour eating, both breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks combined. They spend two hours with their spouse. They spend 15 minutes showering and dressing combined. They spend half hour cleaning something in the house. They spend an hour debating on this forum. Then they spend 8 hours sleeping, and they spend half hour exercising, they spend 15 minutes relaxing staring at the wall while sitting on their sofa, listening to soothing music. Then they spend 3 minutes masturbating before going to sleep for their 8 hours. Did they really commit a sin by wasting 3 minutes “TIME”? Considering everything else they have been doing and organizing within there day?

Let’s put this into reality and perspective now, shall we?

Mind you, I’m undecided if masturbating is a sin or not, I’m just asking the questions that come to mind.

Oh and that 3 minutes masturbating is once a week to once every two weeks mind you before going to bed. Just to give you more perspective. Sometimes once a month.

Now, explain how it's a sin, in light of everything i said here.

Oh, i forgot, the 30 minutes going to and from work combined everyday too.

And 10 to 15 minutes on the toilet per day. Hmmm, what else am i forgetting, there is probably more, but i can't think of any.

So, add up all that time that goes by doing all this stuff, and your telling me this measly 3 minutes masturbating, once every week or two or once per month is WASTING TIME? Seriously?

You know what i really consider a waste of time? Is working 8 hours to pay all my bills and a mortgage that i am in financhial slavory too, THAT is a waste of time. It needs to be done if i want a house, but it's a waste of time in my view. It's not no american dream, it's an american nightmare. That is the real waste of time, not some stupid insignificant three minutes once every two weeks or so masturbating. Lets get real here.

Oh, i had to come back, i forgot, the dog, have to let the dog out 5 to ten minutes every day too. 5 minutes everyday, vs 3 minutes once every two weeks or so.

Oh, and what about those people who don't get a shower and dress in 15 minutes? What if they prolong it to 30 minutes? But they are ABLE to do it in 15 minutes, but they don't? Oh, they must have sinned because they WASTED that other fifteen minutes showering when they did not have to, so they choice to take there TIME showering, that's a sin.

Oh and what about those people who take there TIME eating there lunch? They are able to eat it in ten minutes, but instead they take there time and eat it in 20 minutes, oh they surely must have sinned, because they wasted that extra TEN minutes, God forbid, what a evil person.

Oh, and the person who takes there time walking the dog, they take 20 minutes instead of ten, because they just like to slow down and smell the roses in life, just relax, not be so fast paced. They surely must have sinned, that's right, evil people they are, how dair they walk there dog for 20 minutes when they could have gotten it done in ten, they could have been doing more productive things for the world during that ten minutes.

Oh, and what about 30 minutes going to and from work, surely they have sinned because they should have picked a closer place to work, that way they won't waste 30 minutes getting to and from work everyday, they should only use up 5 minutes, that's how close they need to live to there work. That way the rest of that 30 minutes can be used for sowing gospel seeds or whatever else they do to HELP others.

Oh and don't forget about those who exercise an HOUR instead of 30 minutes, how dar they.

You get the point.

Masturbating while watching porn, or masturbating while watching something decidedly NOT porn, like..horse races, or the cooking channel

This is not me trying to tell you what reality is or telling you what perspective to have. I just think that wasting time is, in the Bible, definitely not good. Compared with it masturbation gets little to no mention and seems to have less to do with evil than to do with Jewish ritual avoidance, and even for them there may be times to do it. The five Bible verses I mentioned are all related I think to making use of time. Do I waste time? Yes, sometimes I do. The Bible seems to say Christians shouldn't. This makes sense, too, because you only get so much time and cannot get it back later.
