I understand that healing can come in many forms, and in many ways, but I am interested to hear from people who claim to have been healed by God.

I was once healed of a back complaint after a simple prayer to Jesus Christ made by a pastor. The healing was immediate and complete (in that the complaint has not returned in over twenty-five years). Since then I have witnessed many people healed of illness and sickness through prayers made in the name of the Lord.

In your faith or religion, have you ever experienced, or witnessed, healing?

I think faith can heal mentally and emotionally. I don't think it has healed me physically, though.

Yes, I had a very brief moment of clarity through devotion to the Gods, and through it in the blink of an eye, most of my Anxieties, went by the wayside, to not come back.Through that my body began to physically recover from the effects of over a decade of unresolved stressors. It is possible, but it is not common I think. Most people lack the sort of introspection necessary for that type of healing to take place.

    Thanks for sharing, Hammer.

I'll not comment, or pass judgment about these experiences. It will be interesting to hear what people have to share.

Have you ever sought prayer for healing, or do you rely on self-help?

I would hope not, otherwise you may not get many responses. Faith is powerful, regardless of the Gods served.

I spoke with my co-worker whose a minister's daughter. She went overseas on ministry and witnessed to people about christ. She said she saw healing first hand. I notice a lot of people are healed when they call out to their gods. I've never had that experience, though.

I've gone through surgeries and a good bit of medical issues. I guess I've been healed only because I kept going. Nothing mystic or anything like that. I notice when I make it "something other" it backfires or so have you. So, I just say thank you in and of itself and keep going.

I kinda wish I had a mystic-experience but the older I get, the more I accept I don't need to attribute blessings with a cause. I probably felt like that more when I got into my art. It's the experience of making rather than the cause from the finished product.

It's not from a specific religion or faith-practice. It's just a work in progress.

    Nice question.

In the last 13 months in particular, every single prayer in which I've asked for something has been answered and I've received what I've asked for. It's spooky.

I've given it thought and I suppose I attribute it to me being reasonable in my requests and having arrived at an acceptable level of emotional maturity.

Also, 13 years of Catholic schooling (which I used to resent on an almost violent level) seems to have instilled a second nature ability to pray in a structured way.

I remember getting thrown out of Mass for being disrespectful on a routine basis and harboring an intense hatred for Catholicism in general.

I've grown to believe that irony is the presence of God.

Interesting. To whom do you direct your requests?

I find 'physical healing' will take place when there will be 'healing' for earth's nations as per Revelation 22:2
This is when there will be fullfilment of God's promise to father Abraham that ALL families of earth will be blessed, and ALL nations of Earth will be blessed as per Genesis 12:3; Genesis 22:18; 18:18.
Blessed with the benefit of physical healing including the swallowing up of death as per Isaiah 25:8.
When Earth will once again be paradisical as Eden was as Isaiah described by Isaiah 35th chapter.

I suppose a power greater than myself - fate - the universe as it unfolds - that sort of thing.

It's just that my prayers are framed in the way I learned in Catholic school; addressing Jesus and God & I usually say the Lord's Prayer as a way to punctuate my requests. The sign of the cross begins and ends the dialogue.

I would never have started doing this if it weren't for times of extreme desperation over the last year or so.

What I find interesting in this comment is that you remove metal and emotional from physical. Why is that? You do not understand how that your emotional and mental states directly affect your physical states, and the other way around too? For instance, think about some horrible thing happening to you, getting sliced by a knife accidently as you're cooking. Does your face clench and grimmise? Do your shoulder raise and your muscles tenses everywhere? I rest my case. Your thoughts created physical stress. The physical response happened by thought alone, with no actual event as you imagined with the mind.

Now, all the rest flows from there back to the thoughts, spawning negative, fearful thoughts. It's a feedback loop system. There is no separation between mind, emotions, and body. It's all one thing moving bidirectionally, all connected as a whole. So as you mind heals, so does your body. As your body heals, so does your mind.

My experience has been through others who went to faith healing services at their churches...most walked away still as afflicted as when they went. Those who did experience a "healing" often regressed within a day or two and were back to square one. Very few were actually cured but then.....

Have you wondered why they have to do double blind studies in drug trials? Its because of the placebo effect. The percentage of healings in church services usually correlates to the average number who respond positively to a placebo. The mind's effect on the body is not well understood, but just 'believing' that something is making you well can work. In fact those on drug trials who benefited from the placebo (sugar pills) they were taking, asked to stay on them because they believed that they were making them well....

There are no miracle healings today.....the age of miracles was for Bible times. If its the same holy spirit effecting the cures today, then I'm afraid its a dismal failure.

No one who came to Jesus for a cure went home sick. (Matthew 4:23-24)

Deeje, given your belief in the words of the Bible, doesn't it appear odd to you that a God who heals through His prophets, His Son, His apostles, and His Church, should not be healing today? This suggests that Jesus Christ is no longer alive. According to scripture, does He not now reign from His heavenly abode? Why would healing suddenly stop?

Which scriptures do you use to validate your doctrine?

I do remember going to a prayer meeting as a guest at someone's home. It was a small gathering, and amongst those attending was an elder from a church that did not believe in healing. He happened to suffer from a bad leg, and warned us that he might have to get up and move around during the meeting. I asked God if I should pray for him, and felt that I should. At the end of the meeting I asked if I could pray for his leg. He agreed, not expecting any result. I asked for healing from the Lord and said no more.
About thirty minutes after the meeting had ended I received a phone call from the elder, telling me excitedly that all his pain and immobility had disappeared. I just thanked God. I claim no powers of my own!
