ranging from good to bad? Alas, socialism ranges only
from bad to bad. So one is rather deterministic.

China's Human Development Index rating ranks 85th out of 189 countries. This indicates Chinese overall have a better quality of life than most people living in 104 other nations.

Unless one is a Uighur or dissident or a peasant in a valley
about to be flooded. But we should note that China has
improved greatly since it began allowing capitalism.
It still retains the powerful central government necessitated
by socialism, & consequently political & social oppression.
