Gather Your Armies!!

Teabagger GOP candidate, Alabama's Rick Barber recently released his new campaign add in which he (seemingly) drunkenly rails against Federal Taxes with the ghosts of George Washington, Ben Franklin and Sam Adams. Apparently the ghosts of our forefathers are sympathetic to his rantings, as George solemnly says "Gather Your Armies."
Barber, obviously not a history major, is apparently unaware that Washington imposed the first Federal Tax, and ordered the Militia to put down the resulting "Whiskey" Rebellion and collect the taxes.
Or that Ben Franklin was supporter of Parisian socialism, or that Sam Adams ran his fathers brewing business into the ground before becoming a tax collector. All before he entered politics.

Inaccurate or not, it is one of the coolest things I have seen in years. This falls election is going to be kick rumpster.

Very shrewd, when running for Congress in Alabama, to tailor your campaign to appeal to the moron community.

How strange. I was always taught that George Washington owned one of our nations largest distilleries in Mount Vernon. Why would he rebel against himself?

Distilling wasn't forbidden. The Whiskey Rebellion was in protest against an excise tax. Washington took over the militias of several states and sent troops into Pennsylvania to enforce the tax.

There is nothing cool at all about a dishonest and/or ignorant politician misrepresenting our nation's history and its founding fathers. A lack of honesty and integrity is not exactly something a party should take pride in.

It's sad that our education system allows for such lies to manipulate the masses. I have always wondered though that the people who claim to know so much about who and what the Founding Fathers were, have any idea they thought it was ok to take possession of private property for their own use? And of course with whatever the hell just cause is supposed to be.

I love it. Republicans show themselves to be complete idiots and it only gets them even more support from their base.

Just more propoganda from the same group of people that took "patriotism" and turned it into something ugly.

Indeed. It's one of the stupidest campaign commercials I've seen, but then again, look at the poplulation he's pandering to. If you want to get elected there, you have to use easy-to-understand, short talking points that play mostly on emotion and disregard facts.

That kind of reminds me of some of the folks who voted for Obama.

I remember seeing a clip showing people agreeing with McCain's principles when they thought that was Barack Obama's positions. These folks where going to vote for BHO no matter what.

Grant you, the tea party will turn congress into a circus, but I really need the entertainment. The federal government is out of control, it's all a big joke anyway. :sorry1:

Right now, I don't see the big issue sending idiots to Washington, they will be in good company.

Sadly it would seem that both major parties in the US are reveling in the muck these days. Are there actually any honest politicians around anymore?
