Excerpt from the new LGBT Handbook

Smoke

Done here.
In recognition of the fact that the LDS Church has toned down its anti-gay rhetoric, and in the spirit of mutual respect and compassion, the LGBT Handbook's statement on Mormonism has been revised to read as follows:

Mormon behavior violates reason, is contrary to human decency and compassion, and deprives people of the blessings that can be found in an honest life free from Mormon-imposed shame and self-hatred. Those who persist in Mormon behavior or who influence others to do so are subject to community discipline. Mormon behavior can be forgiven through sincere repentance.

If members engage in Mormon behavior, community leaders should help them have a clear understanding of sexuality, reason, self-respect, and compassion.

While opposing Mormon behavior, the community reaches out to understanding and respect to individuals who are attracted to the LDS Church.

If LGBT people feel an attraction to Mormonism but do not engage in any Mormon behavior, leaders should support and encourage them in their resolve to live rational lives and to control irrational thoughts. These members may work for gay organizations. If they are worthy and qualified in every other way, they may also hold offices in gay organizations.

Are you sure the authors of the LGBT Handbook's new statement are not closet Mormon elders? That all sounds suspiciously like it came from them.
