Evangelicals Losing?

Are American Christian evangelicals losing their gag reflex in regards to the current political reality? does politics really make for strange bedfellows?

Matthew 23:24
You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

I think this reporter forgot to talk to Billy Graham. One person said that critics like these are the death-gargles of non-achievers and understandible so.

Because a real Christian can see that Trump is an exemplar of morality and modesty. Jesus was guiding his hand as he used it to "grab 'em by the *****." Let's not forget his holy union with that porn star they paid hush money to. And as Jesus commanded he has totally disavowed wealth and the pursuit of it.

No one said he was perfect. So hush money or bribe money... you had to pick one of them. And then pray for God to use whoever is up there.

Aren't you glad you weren't running? You would have to be perfect.

Of course no one is perfect, but some are blatantly morally bankrupt. Trump is a dishonest sleaze, but unfortunately a lot of religious folk seem to be easily duped and manipulated by those who merely pay lip service to their religious sentiments. Critical thinking is of the devil, apparently.

Is this what Christians in the US have come to...a political wing of the GOP?
If Jesus was alive today he would disown the lot of you.

There are true Christians in the US but the gang who complained about a stained dress during Clinton's Presidency and excuse the current lying, immoral behavior which is extremely blatant and much worse have lost the moral standing to be listened to. They have tried to "serve two masters" and failed.

Yes... people are manipulated and duped... and religious people don't have the corner on the market.

U.S. conservative Christians are a rather bizarre breed, considering many of the policies and platforms that they support directly contradict the teachings of Jesus. They also see themselves as representing the entirety of Christendom, and they somehow manage to intertwine gun ownership with their faith, literally seeing it as god given. It's also lost upon them that they're the only group in the developed world that sees evolution as a "controversy".

That, in a nutshell, is the problem.

Karl Rove figured that out decades ago. He needed to find a voting block that tended to reject the evidence of reality in favor of pre-conceived bias, to vote for his unpopular and pathetically inept candidate, George Bush, and he found this in spades with the southern Christian evangelical crowd. All he had to do was spread lies about his opponent being a lesbian and they ran to the polls in droves to vote for "W". And the republicans have been playing the "we hate gays, abortion, atheists, liberals, Hollywood, and know-it-all yankee scum just like you do!" card in every election, since.

There were many Christians that voted for the Democrats.

There were many people who were not Christians that voted for the Republicans.

Who you vote for doesn't make Jesus disown anyone.

As an outsider, I have a question. If an Evangelical was obliged to forgo either Jesus or his gun, which one would he dump?

No difference than when 12 followed Jesus and one became a thief and a back stabber. People are people. Ultimately the 10 left their guns and were killed.

usually its what is closest at hand. to some evangelicals, they believed voting for Trump would usher the end of times; which they believe heralds the 2nd coming. unless Jesus is here and now, chances are they are going to prefer the way of what is readily available. so the options you offered are in reality, jesus coming or gun.

Do you really think that gentle and mild Jesus would have approved of Trump supporters? Jesus who destroyed the money lenders?
He died for all people, including you and me, and so performance based acceptance isn't the love requirement.
