Being high is not conducive to creating music. Or to creating much of anything else. The mind sort of flies away with itself while the rest of you stumbles around, mostly doing nothing.

I'm an artist. Being "high" gave me a false (chemically induced) feeling of being very clever and creative and productive. I know because I spent a lot of years chasing after that delusional "high". But the reality of it is that I wasn't any more creative high than I was sober. I was, however, a whole lot less effective/productive.
