This could be a dangerous thread. But the question is begging to be asked: Do boys suck?

Looking back on my life, I realize that when I was much younger, I didn't always treat my female friends with the consideration for their feelings and sensitivity to their needs that I wish I had. So now I'm wondering whether that's pretty much par for the course with young men, or whether I was more or less unique in that regard?

So, do boys suck?

If so, in what ways do they suck? What are the major things boys need to improve on to be more compatible with girls?

Are these realistic things to expect boys to improve on? Or does this place too much of a burden on them? Is it fair to expect boys to be better than they are?

If you were/are a boy, would you be/are you concerned to improve yourself in those ways? Why or why not?

What's your worse boys suck story? The all time best example you have of boys sucking?

No, mostly they were just pretty clueless about how to relate to girls. We are not impressed by outrageous behaviour, we are amused at your coy attempts to approach us, and frankly wonder why the heck you don't just say "Hi!" instead of dreaming up convoluted ways to get us to pay attention to you.

I can understand the interest in female body parts, but the childish obsession with them is very annoying. We are more than just a few body parts. If parts is all you want, I suggest an inflatable doll. Don't get an Acme Latex Love Doll, though -- they're only for the very serious romantics.

Are these realistic things to expect boys to improve on? Or does this place too much of a burden on them? Is it fair to expect boys to be better than they are?

I think it's not too much to ask boys not to just, er, grow up in some areas.

Of course, boys could say the same things about the areas where girls tend to be childish too, so we're even there.

Well, being a gay female, I just don't spend a whole lot of time thinking about boys, thus haven't a relevant opinion for answering the OP, otherwise I'd have loved to have given you an opinion.

I am not proud of it, but I have to admit that I identify very much with your:

But then again, I was not an 'ordinary' boy, so it is a little hard for me to Judge others.

My main reason for being the way I was is that I was a very solitary Child (never really learned to 'socialise' as a Kid, especially since I was in Africa, and there werte few white kids.

When I came to Europe, I had all my education in boy's only schools.

When I finally 'hit the streets' (at the age of eighteen), what I knew about girls and sex could have been written on the back of a postage stamp.............

Once let loose in the 'big wide World', I guess I wasn't very good at knowing 'how to behave' (especially towards girls). Spurred on by testosterone (without even knowing I was, and what testosterone was), let's say (on hindsight) that I could have been less focussed on my needs and more on the needs of the girls I met.

Do I regret it ? Of course, but I think I had 'extenuating circumstances' as a valid reason (as opposed to excuse) for the way I behaved.

a lot of young males are simply shallow, in my oppinion, or just selfish and immature.

they do grow up, but they can hurt a lot of people in the process, so yes, a lot of males do just suck.

Everyone makes mistakes when they are young... it is part of growing up. As long as you've learned, apologized as appropriate and amended your behavior... Even the guy who raped me recently apologized profusely, asked for forgiveness and swore he would never do it again.

So, do boys suck? Most of my friends are guys and they are awesome. There are plenty of boys that suck, but I don't waste my time with them.

Don't get depressed about idiot girls chasing the jerks and don't become a jerk yourself... it isn't worth it. Listen and empathize. A lot of girls are overly subtle... you would do well to learn to figure out what are really trying to say. Self-esteem is sexy. Arrogance is not. Do not ever attempt to coerce or force her into sex. Do not be abusive.

No. I am not concerned with the fairness of it. I expect everyone to strive to improve themselves, including myself. Why should abusive jerks be an exception?
