Did David believe we go to heaven when we die?I think the bible implies he did.

Spirit of Light

Be who ever you want
I think Psalms 145:1 and 2 Samuel 12:21-23.Say he did.:)
Not everyone will go to heaven, it depends on how we lived as human beings. In the bible it say something like.
It is harder for a rich man to go to heaven than for a camel to go through a eye of a needle.

Actually there is nothing about heaven in these verses. They say it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than foe a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Is that the same as heaven? Maybe. But the Bible NEVER says anyone goes to heaven.

"heaven" is a word with more than one understanding.

It can refer to "an afterlife" or it can refer to the skies above us.
It is clear why people associate the two together, when we consider that the Bible says that Jesus ascended to heaven. [was seen to ascend].

The Kingdom of God is viewed in different ways.
It can refer to an afterlife, or it can refer to this life [JW's for example]

I agree that an afterlife is implied in the OT.
I am not a Sadducee ;)

God created the world and set man the task of making it a Paradise and filling it with offspring.

Paradise is not the spirit Heaven. Paradise is a physical realm as opposed to Heaven being a Non-physical, bodiless, immaterial realm.

Some here have already understood that ‘Heaven’ (the ‘abode’ of God and Spirits) is not the same as ‘THE Heavens”, which is the sky, and celestial space.
Therefore it must be understood from the point of understanding of the writer of the verse. No one has every ascended into HEAVEN … f except Jesus Christ. But do not confuse that with Enoch and Elijah being taken up into ‘The Heavens’ nor Jesus being seen taking up into the heavens (or heaven). The writers of the latter wrote what they saw - a man being lifted up into the SKY. Doubtless, the body of ones like Enoch and Elijah were dropped by the whirlwind at some unknown and I found place. Jesus being ‘taken up’ is only a visual interpretation. Entering the Spirit realm does not involve being ‘raised / lifted up’ but rather a ‘shedding of the material body’ leaving an active spirit (different to ‘dying’!) in the spirit realm. Only Jesus Christ has done this… therefore all other ‘going to Heaven’ is misunderstood as either going up into the sky (the heavens) or dormant spirit (death - spirit RESTING INERTLY with God).

In terms of Paradise and Heaven for the afterlife… only a small number of those raised back to eternal life will occupy the Spirit Heaven. These are called ‘The Elect’ of God. These will rule with Jesus Christ as kings and priests (Jesus is the High Priest). All others raised will live in PARADISE earth - the created world that God set up for mankind such that the ‘Word of God: ‘fill the earth’ will come to pass… for the word that comes out of the mouth of God will certainly not return to him until if has fulfilled the purpose to which it was sent out!!

You are entitled to your opinion, but this is a sectarian belief.
It is not taught by Orthodox scholars.

However, Almighty God is able to create what He wills .. He is able to create another "earth" if we ruin this present one. :)

Well, sorry but I’m not speaking for ‘orthodox scholars’. ‘Orthodox Scholars’ for a long time taught that the earth was the centre of the universe…

The ‘opinions’ are claims and prophesies not mine but those of him who devised all good things and also what the Christian scriptures says.
However, Almighty God is able to create what He wills .. He is able to create another "earth" if we ruin this present one.
The scriptures says that though Satan has been allowed to test all things against God, he is not allowed to take the life of humanity. Basically, the Earth (planet ‘Earth’) he cannot destroy… it is Satan that leads man to cause badness resulting in destruction such as tempting man with the creation of limitless power via nuclear fusion but then turning that into negativity in way of the nuclear bomb.
God (via Jesus Christ) will step in and prevent ultimate destruction… fear not… even as Putin, under control of Satan, is even now threatening Ukraine with destruction by nuclear weapons - without regard to the wider destruction that would result to other countries and wildlife and ecosystem.

I agree, but that will only happen once.

This present life is a mortal one .. we all die.
When Jesus returns as Messiah, he will cleanse the earth of evil as prophesised, but not without a struggle [as also prophesised .. battle of armageddon etc]

There will then be a global time of peace, that will radiate throughout the world. There will be no hunger, no wars etc.

However, we will still die. People will still have accidents, and bodies will still age. This life is finite.
We are all sinners .. and eventually, mankind will go back to their old ways over some generations. Our history shows our nature.

The trumpet will be blown, and the day of judgement will be, and every soul that has ever lived will be brought before their Lord.

Sounds about right … ‘eye of the storm’

When all seems peace - sudden destruction!

Then the end shall come!!

Just think.

A rich man can have a custom made needle built so big that you can have a camel easily go through the eye of a needle.

This is a very important aspect to keep in mind!

Most of these scholars, ie., leaders of Christendom, also teach that supporting one’s country during times of war is ok. This, too, is far from the truth!
1 John 3:10-15
The laity in Christendom are so misled by their clergy leaders. IMO

There has to be a balance.
Almighty God does not tell us [in the Bible] not to defend ourselves against evil.
