I do a lot of cycling (for revoltingest's purvy enjoyment, wearing spandex). I go out of my way to not get in the way of cars? In france ive had no trouble (maybe because cycling is the national sport and cyclists are expected) in the UK i've been lucky not to have been knocked off my bike or more several times. Aggressive driving is the norm and it seems the only thing that earns them more macho points than knocking off a cyclist is running over a nun walking n a pedestrian crossing.
The other way round. By the same token i give cyclists a wide birth, one never knows if they will fall off and skull being crushed under a car wheel is not a nice sound.
I was waiting at traffic lights, they changed to green and i just set off when a cyclist swerved across the front of me. Quick reaction in throwing out all the anchors was the only reason i didnt hit him.
He shot off and peddled of down a side street, i followed and caught him up, stopped and told him how stupid he was.
His reply, if you'd have hit me id have been rich.
The bloody idiot did it on purpose for an insurance claim
My response,. Uh, hur... Dash cam.
The look of ashamed terror on his face was worth the hassle and i am betting he wont try if again.
