And Odd Experience At The Dentist

I dread dentists.
(I would never survive a Bene Gesserit's gom jabbar.)
Yesterday I'd planned ahead for a tooth implant.
I had a playlist on my iphone, & wireless ear thingies.
Lo!
While the drill groaned, & the dentist worked, I actually
enjoyed the experience. My playlist distracted from the
thought of pain. Numbed up, there was no pain, but the
thought was the problem. Music replaced that thought.
I found myself smiling (only inwardly, since my jaw was
held open, & filled with tools of the trade).

Many good tunes, but this one was the most
calming & enjoyable.

What a 'spiritual' experience!

I'm not sure @Vinayaka "did" anything other than demonstrate that people tend to separate such experiences as shared in the OP from what they perceive to be 'spiritual.' What @Revoltingest did in the OP isn't all that dissimilar to meditation techniques that still the mind. I'm confident that if he had neuroimaging done while in the dentist's chair, the images wouldn't have been all that dissimilar to one who is meditating.

Hah!
I knew someone would take that road!

I must play tricks on me brain.
It does things I dislike, but I can make it behave
more as I wish with some thoughtful planning.

Tamar Beraia (in the video) is inspiring.
Francesco Piemontesi is another who
was in my playlist.
(I skipped the berceuse...too quiet for
noisy dental work.)

'take that road' has long been a metaphor for those who hold to the idea of spiritual experiences.

Was it anything like this?

Well, the problem is in the broad sense connected to false. In some cases something apparently can be false, yet people can act on it. So at least false is real in some sense.
Problems are illusions.
False is an illusion.
Actions are illusions.
Illusions are illusions.
