I'm curious to know if you think there is a right way to worship the Lord. That is to say, do you think there is a particular sect of Christianity that is the only right way to follow? Why or why not?

Yes, there is a right way. It has absolutely nothing to do with whatever religion you choose on the earth. It has to do with how you exchange energy with God. You will be taught how to properly do this at a higher level before you go to heaven.

Humans were given a primitive idea of this concept of exchanging energy in the idea of praying but you're much too primitive and immature for it to have any real effect as you are now.

How are you defining "worship"? Do you mean church services, or personal prayer and devotions?

Yes. St. Paul says that the Church is the pillar and foundation of the truth (1 Timothy 3:15). Jesus promised that the gates of Hell will never prevail against His Church (Matthew 16:18). Christians are to keep the faith that was handed down once and for all to the Saints (Jude 3). The Church is the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12). As for me, I have it narrowed down to being between the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church. If you want to hear more about either of those Churches, let me know and I'd be happy to give you information. :)

This is not to say that if you fail to find the one true Church, that God will condemn you to Hell for not being part of His Church during this life; you will be judged according to your conscience (Romans 2:14-16). As we say in the Orthodox Church, and also in the Eastern Catholic Churches, "The Holy Spirit blows where He will." Everyone who will be saved at the Judgement will be a member of the Church, even if they weren't a part of it during this earthly life. They will be unintentional stowaways on the Ark of Salvation, as goes the metaphor we Byzantines like to use. :D

It is my belief that God searches for us as much as we search for him. He looks into the heart of a person to see how they respond to his provision of salvation in Jesus Christ....whether they show appreciation for his earth and its creatures....and if they are genuinely searching for 'his' truth or only what they want in religion.

He tells us in the Bible what he requires of us, but most people concentrate too much on what they require of God.

Find out what God wants you to do and do it. (1 John 2:17)

In Acts 17:24-27 the apostle Paul addressed his pagan audience with these words.....

"The God who made the world and all the things in it, being, as he is, Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in handmade temples; 25 nor is he served by human hands as if he needed anything, because he himself gives to all people life and breath and all things. 26 And he made out of one man every nation of men to dwell on the entire surface of the earth, and he decreed the appointed times and the set limits of where men would dwell, 27 so that they would seek God, if they might grope for him and really find him, although, in fact, he is not far off from each one of us."

Think about what he said and ask God to show you the way. If he sees in you a worthy heart, he will direct you to his truth. You will never find the way without him. (John 6:44)

    SearchingForGod,
According to what the Bible says there is only ONE religion the God accepts and blesses, Ephesians 4:3-6. In the first century the road to life was called The Way, Acts 9:2, 19:9,23, 22:4. This group would love each other, even enough to die for each other, John 13:34,35, 1John 3:16. They would all know the Holy Scriptures so well that they would all speak the same truth, and there would be NO divisions in their religious service, 1Corinthians 1:10.
The whole world would hate them, just as they did Jesus, their master, John 15:17-21, 16:2, Matthew 24:9. God's people would be known also, for their worldwide teaching, Matthew 28:19,20.
Most people are looking in the wrong direction when they look for God's chosen people today, 1Corinthians 1:26-29. Agape!!!

Yes there is a right way to worship, By not listening to what man will teach, but what the Lord shall teach.
Man teachings will say this or that, and then go about trying to incorporating it into the bible.

It's a great question, I'm more of a seeker also than an active Christian, but I believe the Bible is no more an accident than our own existence. So the truth is there for us all, somewhere, but means nothing, if we can't find it for ourselves... that's about as far as I've got I'm afraid!

    What do you think though?

    Hi there,

I think the idea of a particular sect being the only right way is not supported by Scripture. Note that the different churches in Scripture were primarily distinguished by their location. The Church in Thessalonica, the church in Corinth, etc, etc. The each had their issues and different perspectives that the Apostles tried to address but they were all considered churches of Christ.

Also worthy of note, the Apostles themselves in the New Testament warned the believers to be on guard saying that false teachers would arise from among those early churches. Here's just one example:

"Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears." Acts 20:28-31

Note too that in this same letter of Acts the Bereans were commended for doing the following:

"And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few." Acts 17:10-12

There is a particular sect that is the right way and they are noted in the book of Revelation chapters 2 & 3.

And if people are not like any of these two churches, your an out cast. They are the only two churches that Christ Jesus found no fault with, but Praised them.

What is it that Christ Jesus found about them so much, that Christ Jesus Praised them. If you find out what it is that Christ Jesus Praised them about, Then do as they do.then you will find yourself being Praised.

    SearchingForGod,
Good question! according to the Holy Scriptures, there is only one way to Salvation, John 6:44,14:6, 20:29-31, Acts 4:10-12.
Our Heavenly Father allowed His son to come to earth and give his life for all who would accept him and follow his steps, 1Peter 2:21.
In the first century when Christianity first began, Christianity was called The Way, meaning only one Way, Acts 9:2, 19:9,23. In Ephesians 4:3-6 we are told that there is only one hope, one Faith.
At Titus 2:14, in many Bibles, the term Peculiar is used, talking about people that Jesus would purify for himself, who would be zealous for good works. It seems that this term Peculiar means a group that would be called Christian, but would be very different, very special to Jesus.
So, it seems that the right way to worship God is to worship Him as close as we can to the way Jesus worshiped Him, 1Peter 2:21-25, John 13:34,35, 1John 3:16, Matthew 22:34-40. Agape!!!

To answer your question, Yes there is only one way to follow and Christ Jesus sat it all down.As did the 12 disciples.

The true church of Christ Jesus will be established during the Tribulation.

Those who make it thru the Tribulation, will be established in the true church of Christ Jesus.

    SearchingForGod,
If I answer your question, I will be punished. Even if I quote from the Bible, the rulers say we must say we believe or think it to be true.
Of course there is a right way, in the first century that way was called The Way, Acts 9:2,19:9,23, 22:4.
Jesus came to earth to show mankind The Way. According to the Bible the only Way to life is through Faith in Jesus, the ONLY name under heaven by which we MUST be saved, Acts 4:10-12, John 20:30,31.
When Paul was speaking to some Elders from Ephesus, he told them that after he went away there would arise from among them oppressive wolves and men who would speak twisted things to draw people after themselves, Acts 20:30,31. Consider what Paul wrote to Timothy, 1Timothy 4:1-3, 2Timothy 4:2-5, consider what Peter said as a warning to all, 2Peter 2:1-3.
Jesus told his disciples a truth that probably sounded strange to them, at John 16:1-4. Jesus said that people would get so far from the truth of God’s word, that they would even kill God’s people, thinking they were doing a service to God. It is that way today, in many places!!
Because the truth is spoken of abuseably, many people who believe they are Christians, reject true Christians. They have been fooled into thinking just the opposite of what truth is, in many cases.
Consider what we should look for in a true Christian, this is just the opposite of what many believe you should look for in the One True Faith, Ephesians 4:1-6, 1Corinthians 1:10, we should all speak in agreement, there should not be any divisions among us, and be completely united.
Another thing to look for that seems wrong to many people, 1Corinthians 1:22-31, Luke 6:22-26.
If you are truly one of God’s people you WILL be persecuted, 2Timothy 3:12.
Christianity started in the first century, pure and uncorrupted, but but as time went on, and especially after the death of the Apostles, who were the recognized Authority about all Christian teachings, false teachings were introduced into the true congregation. At first they were not accepted, but as time went on more and more false beliefs were accepted in, so that today almost every belief has been adulterated, and are rejected by The Almighty God. The very one you are most likely to reject are the true Christians!!! Agape!!!
    Keep looking!!!

Jesus said very plainly: "You are my friends, if you do what I command you."
John 15:14 You are my friends if you do what I command.

So, if they don't, are they still his friends?

John 15:17, a command. To what extent? I mean, is there a limit to where one doesn't have to, for their brothers? At John 13:34-35, Jesus said, "Just as I loved you, so do you also"! Yes, we should be willing to give up our life for our spiritual brother.

But at Matthew 5:44, Jesus said to even "love your enemy."

Supporting one country over another during a conflict, is that acceptable? Compare Acts of the Apostles 10:34-35....Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right." -- (New Living Translation)

"If they don't love, are they still his friends?"

A genuine religion needs a good reputation in this regard, wouldn't you think?

Yes, there is a particular sect of Christianity that is the only right way to follow.
That even back after the death and Resurrection of Christ, A particular sect of people started to call themselves
( The Way ) And then later became to be called Christians. Acts 24:14, 11:26

Not all Christians are of this particular sect of Christians.
Christ Jesus fortold about how many shall come in his name, saying, I am Christ: and shall deceive many. Matthew 24:5,
    Mark 13:6.
Who else besides Christians comes under the name of Christ, Calling themselves
    Christians = Christ = Christ-ian.

Therefore you have two particular sect of Christians. Who are the false Christians that Christ is in reference to and who's the true Christians, Who's, Who ?

It's not hard to figure this out, Who's, Who, if a person has wisdom and knowledge and understanding of the scriptures ?

    I don't believe in it.
Yes, it is the non-denominational church, the Bride of Christ (Isaiah 54:5, 2 Corinthians 11:2, Ephesians 5:25-27, Isaiah 62:5) that only those who have turned from sin and have committed themselves to holiness and righteousness after the perfect example of Jesus Christ (John 13:15, 1 Peter 2:21) can be a part of. It is not a physical church but a spiritual one.

Christianity should not be divided because "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand" (Matthew 12:25). Many sects of Christianity pick and choose what to follow which leads to confusion. However, the Bible tells us that God is not an author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). Most, if not all, disagreements come from a lack of salvation which enables a person to understand the will and teachings of God. So, I recommend first being born again; Repent of your sins by acknowledging that you are a sinner and that your life has displeased God, confess your sins to Jesus Christ, asking him to forgive you and finally cease from sin. Once you've done that (experienced salvation), then I would recommend attending a non-denominational church that is focused on the Bible.

I would also recommend reading your Bible on your own--not just waiting for the pastor's sermon--as well. What I've found to be a key component to church/fellowship is that I can always count on it to point out areas that need to be worked on (these are not sins), like having more faith in God about situations I go through or being happy regardless of the things going on in my life or reading my Bible more, etc. I have found that when I come to church, I receive messages from God through others about areas I had not noticed before. So while I learn about God through studying my Bible, I come to church to learn about how to better my relationship with God and with others.

    Hope this helps! God bless!

Why is it that people think they have to belong to a church to be saved.

You know Christ Jesus did say, "Where two or Three are gathered together, there I am in the midst". Matthew 18:20

Therefore when I study the bible, there is the Spirit of Truth to lead me into all Truth.
And there's the Holy Spirit, to teach me all things.
So you have, 1,The Spirit of Truth,
    2, Holy Spirit
And me being number 3 and Christ Jesus in the midst over looking all things.
