A Double Standard?

What if he had said : yes I did have sex with that woman in the WH ?
Would he have undergone any consequence?
Probably less onerous consequences because
he'd have been guilty only of sin, not crimes.

If the answer yes, the perjury story is just a pretext. A scam.
The "scam" is in partisans prosecuting only the other side.

"Would you say that a crime can be prosecuted if committed as a civilian, but not when by a President?"

I'm saying Trump didn't have certain/special protection when he paid the hush money. His troubles started before he was president and bled over into this presidency.

"Presidents are given too much immunity from prosecution IMO."

I agree. Its kind of like the diplomatic immunity BS.
Clinton was accused of many sex crimes before
becoming President. All were swept under the rug.

I am slighlty amazed by the fact that even atheists in the US are so obsessed with Christian values like marital fidelity.
This means that the US is definitely Christian...
we are more like a pagan country.

We're addressing the crimes, not the sexual escapades.
No religion is necessary to consider crimes & prosecution.

I recall that the left defended Bill Clinton's crimes, ie, lying
to a grand jury, suborning perjury, as justified because it
was only about sex, & that he was protecting his family.
It could be said that Trump paid hush money that was
only about sex, & that he was protecting his family (yes,
I actually heard that from the right).

Should both be prosecuted? Or if only Trump, why
give a pass to one Prez committing crimes, but not
to another?

Caution:
Before tempers flare, & feces fly...I'll state clearly
that this is not a defense of Trump. I want him
prosecuted for crimes, especially related to the
Jan 6 insurrection.
Further, if Trump is arrested, he should be hand
cuffed, just as the little people are. Politicians
shouldn't be above the justice system that afflicts
the masses.

Why you Clinton loving Trump minion...them be fighting words

Do you deny that Clinton lied to a grand jury, & suborned perjury?
Since the grand jury had no business asking the questions they were asking, Clinton had no obligation to answer them. He should have refused to answer, and made them prove their need to know. But that was a minor mistake in my opinion. So even though he was wrong to lie, it was inconsequential in that instance.

Unfortuntely, lying came a bit to naturally to ole Bill. :)

I see.
But there's a big problem with having a special
lesser legal standard just for Presidents.
Ordinary citizens must take the 5th. For if they
lie, they go to prison. Setting Presidents above
the law that applies to the rest of us has corrupting
consequences. This situation is what inspired Trump
to flout the law, & even attempt insurrection (IMO).

Ordinary citizens are prosecuted for such things as lying
when testifying, & suborning perjury. Doing so because
it relates to sex is not exculpating. Yet Clinton wasn't
prosecuted.
Generally....
Republicans wanted Clinton convicted, but Democrats opposed it.
Democrats want Trump prosecuted, but Republicans oppose it.
You really cannot see a double standard?
I guess I am can't help but see the general situation without obsessing on specific details.

There is "wanting", and there is "doing". Also, there is "excusing everything left and right".
