Trump to FBI Director Comey: You're Fired!

Kilgore Trout

Misanthropic Humanist
You think. Most people think. Most people that think, think it's righteous to hate Trump. That's the problem: thinking.
Trump runs rings around everybody, because he usually doesn't think. He doesn't have to, because he has something thinkers don't.
He has intuition.
I have it too, in spades. As does my wife. As do many who love Trump, because Trump is like them: REAL.
You thinkers have practically destroyed the human race.
Now it's time for intuition.

Well, at least it is definitely quite clear that you aren't much of a thinker.

Apparently, part of this not thinking is not knowing what intuitive actually means either.

(I know I'm wasting my breath, but...) Businesses not leaving and/or returning back to US; 100,000 more jobs added last month than expected; stock market over 20,000; lowest unemployment rate in ten years; etc,etc...
Errr, it's only been a hair over 100 days. It's far too soon for any of Trump's work to have made any serious changes. Those numbers, bar maybe the stock market one, are due to Obama's policies. Without question the unemployment change is Obama's.
Especially considering Trump and the Trumpettes in the legislature haven't passed a single piece of significant law (However, in direct opposition to Trump's own slandering of Obama; Trump is setting record high numbers for ruling by fiat/executive orders. We have to go back to Truman to see this many executive orders per month. - Strange; considering that some were deluded to think that Obama abused that power.). Huh. o_O

Oh, and BTW.....here is the stock market and jobs numbers for the last few years before Trump got there...
spx-vs-obama.png

Ooh! Sorry that chart also shows the end of the last republican president's reign....My bad.

jobsFeb2016.jpg

So we all have to acknowledge how Trump has inherited a boom time, while Obama pulled our nation out of the fire. Huh. That's not quite how Trump phrased it. Is it now?

But...but...don't we do that with every President? The previous Prez wanted credit for the sea levels going down? Do you think anybody would have insisted to see proof that President wasn't responsible for this apparent miracle?
Standard Obamophobic cherry-picking. Strange that your fake news agencies didn't clarify their profound misstatements. Huh. o_O

Pathetic.

Here is the section of the speech in question,

The journey will be difficult. The road will be long. I face this challenge with profound humility, and knowledge of my own limitations. But I also face it with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people. Because if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth. This was the moment - this was the time - when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves, and our highest ideals. Thank you, God Bless you, and may God Bless the United States of America.

On a personal note, as an agnostic patriotic citizen.....Thank you president Obama, and may you be 'blessed' too.

Oh, but Trump has invented an 84-year-old phrase that will bring manufacturing back to the Rust Belt. He's going prime a 19th-century pump.

In case you haven't noticed, there are a ton of shops closing. 100,000 jobs may have been created, but we've been hit with loosing so far this year over 3,000 stores. The number may top 800,000 by the end of the year.
We can thank the internet for that. Who goes shopping in person any more unless you are buying groceries or prescriptions?

An interesting article below. I think my favorite piece from it is this.....
"The question has to be asked searchingly of the Republican members of Congress: Will you allow a president of your party to attack the integrity of the FBI? You impeached Bill Clinton for lying about sex. Will you now condone and protect a Republican administration lying about espionage?

Where are you? Who are you?"
The number of Republicans in Congress expressing concern about Trump's firing of Comey is growing:

GOP senators critical/concerned (13)

Sen. John Boozman (Ark.): Boozman said in a statement that "Americans deserve a full explanation as to the circumstances of the decision to immediately remove Mr. Comey from his post. Our country has lost faith in many of our institutions and a better public accounting of this situation.... can help restore some of that broken trust."

Sen. Richard Burr (N.C.): The Senate Intelligence Committee chairman said in a statement that he was “troubled by the timing and reasoning of Director Comey’s termination.”

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (W.Va.): Capito told ABC News that "I think we need to find out what's happened and why."

Sen. Bob Corker (Tenn.): Corker said in a statement that “while the case for removal of Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey laid out by Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein was thorough, his removal at this particular time will raise questions.”

Sen. Jeff Flake (Ariz.): Flake said in a tweet that “I’ve spent the last several hours trying to find an acceptable rationale for the timing of Comey's firing. I just can't do it.”

Sen. John Hoeven (N.D.): Hoeven told Bloomberg Trump was acting on Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein's recommendation but "the timing raises some questions because of the interference of the Russians in our election."

Sen. John Kennedy (La.): Kennedy told NBC News that "the White House timing on this was less than impeccable" and Comey's successor "might be one of the most important decisions of his presidency."

Sen. John McCain (Ariz.): McCain said in a statement that “while the President has the legal authority to remove the Director of the FBI, I am disappointed in the President's decision to remove James Comey from office.”

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska): Murkowski said in a statement that “whether or not you are a supporter of Mr. James Comey’s actions as FBI director, the timing of his firing — in the middle of an investigation into Russia’s interference in our election — is serious cause for concern.”

Sen. Rob Portman (Ohio): Portman said in a statement that “given the timing and circumstances of the decision, I believe the White House should provide a fuller explanation regarding the president’s rationale.”

Sen. Ben Sasse (Neb.): Sasse said in a statement that “regardless of how you think Director Comey handled the unprecedented complexities of the 2016 election cycle, the timing of this firing is very troubling ... I have reached out to the Deputy Attorney General for clarity on his rationale for recommending this action.”

Sen. Dan Sullivan (Alaska): Sullivan said in a statement that “President Trump has the authority to choose the director of the FBI whom he believes will best lead the agency. The timing of the president’s firing of Director Comey raises questions that will need to be answered by the administration."

Sen. John Thune (S.D.): Thune told a local TV station that "there are questions about timing that the administration and Justice Department are going to need to answer in the days ahead."

GOP senators on Comey firing: Where they stand
And further:

Rep. Justin Amash, a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, said in a tweet that he would introduce legislation supporting the creation of an independent commission to investigate Russia's interference in the election.

Amash is one of four Republicans who have signed on to legislation that would force Trump to release his tax returns.

Please see the column linked Andrew Coyne: Assuming a plan behind Comey firing would be giving Trump too much credit, by a Canadian conservative writer. It is well worth the read. Meantime, a couple of excerpts:

"Above all, we have never seen anyone rise to such high office so unbound by any of the usual norms of behaviour, personal, political or presidential, of which the past three months-plus have been a daily tutorial. The firing of James Comey, the FBI director, is of a piece with this. For a president, several of whose associates are under criminal investigation, to fire the person at the head of that investigation is, of course, outside every norm of constitutional government and defies every understanding of the rule of law."

"The comforting supposition that Trump, whatever danger his presidency might present, could be contained by the checks and balances built into the U.S. system, is now very much in doubt. For ultimately checks and balances depend upon a willingness of the president to be so checked and balanced — the very kind of norm that Trump has shown at every turn he is unwilling to observe."

Really, even if it's by a Canadian, the column is well worth reading.

This is embarrassing. Come on people, do you really trust RW media (swamp media) telling you anything? They're fooling you with propaganda to vote republican. Sheesh.

Of course the fake news outlets are going to tell you the real journalists aren't to be trusted. Duh

But what is causing this?
The Internet. Ebay. Amazon. Shops that sell any specialty items you need. Anything you want without having to drive for it.
Brick and mortar stores aren't going to vanish entirely, but don't be surprised if demo model stores and grocery stores aren't the bulk of the remaining stores. I'd say pharmacy, but when the Boomers on are all dead they're probably going to take physical newspapers and pharmacies with them to the grave.
Couple that with the fact that big box sell it all stores like Walmart play a role in this as well.
Even box stores are taking a hit.

So, just to make sure we are on the same page, what statute do you believe that Clinton violated?
Existing.
Who goes shopping in person any more unless you are buying groceries or prescriptions?
I've known people who don't even do that much in person.

Home security. And I have found that people are more confident in spending their money. Another indication of the economy growing and growing better.

Or maybe people are, for some reason, feeling more insecure to the point they are willing to spend some extra cash to protect themselves. That is not a good sign.

I don't agree at all. Trump is subject to the rule of law regardless of his willingness or unwillingness to be subject to it. His offenses are as impeachable as Nixon's were.

What? Me worry?

So you don't believe in being responsible for your own and your family's protection?

I believe in creating an environment where purchasing gadgets to protect your family is unnecessary.
But that's beside the point. An increase in fearfulness could reasonably explain why your business is thriving. That's the point.

I agree. The info yesterday as to why the markets closed a little lower was due to lackluster retail sales. It was noted that consumers at this point in time of the year aren't spending money.

More than a bit overdue. Comey has certainly put his foot in it on more than a couple of occasions.

And, no, I don't believe that alleged Russian "ties" had anything to do with it. That's turned out to be a pretty big nothing-burger.

Are you a real life Trump supporter?! Wow, you should be studied. Ah, I kid! But as any American should know by now, it will remain a 'nothingburger' until the indictments are announced. When Comey first announced the investigation, he explained that it had began in July and explained 6 months was very little time for a counter-intelligence investigation spanning the globe. This could take years. So go on and insist Trump is all about people like us, and he's as innocent as the pure driven snow. Me? I'm going to live in this weird, not always just, reality.
