Egypt moves to ban Elton John

I think I am not understanding you here not4me. You say you are aware you are oppressing people but that it is not your view?
No, what I am saying is that I am very aware of your view on which I clearly disagree.

I don't understand why anyone would want to soil their boots by stepping into such a primitive and repressive country anyway. I'm sure the air there is pungent and foul if their hygiene is as lacking as their decency.

Actually, I'd love to travel to Egypt to see the pyramids. However, I have a strict policy of avoiding countries where people want to kill me because of their igorance and intolerance.

It would be their loss. Sir Reginald Kenneth Dwight (aka Elton John) is extremely talented. He plays the piano beautifully, sings lovely, and writes lovely melodies (thank Bernie Taupin for the wonderful lyrics). They'd be missing out. He could come to San Diego County, we'd love to have him here, even with his extreme opinions (which we all have to an extent).

I strongly oppose westernization of our societies and the mentalities of our youth. The amount of the imported ideas and values from the West is amazing, and these imported ideas are the bad corrupting ones and which gradually erase our uniqueness as Muslims, Arabs and Egyptians. True that this is mainly an ideological battle.

I don't know if such a word exists, but perhaps we should create a new one for this type of perspective....... maybe..... "Westophobia"? ^_^

Since when do you know that every single Muslim or every Muslim group believes in violent Jihad?

You are making a sweeping generalization.

Since when did I ever make such a ludicrous claim? You are making a blunderous assumption.

I think the problem is:

People in "the West" such as MSizer (no offense :sorry1:) see religious people and associate them with people such as not4me (again, no offense :sorry1:).

And people like not4me see people from "the West" and associate them with people like MSizer.

So basically, people from "both sides" are making sweeping generalizations and seem to think that their "opposite" is the enemy and that they need to fight (maybe).

Now how do we fix this?

I expect you to point out my sweeping generalization, or else I'd like an admission of misrepresentation.

A most sagacious policy, to be sure.

Personally, I try to avoid the exercise yards at maximum security prisons for much the same reason.

As you have said before:

MSizer said:
Nope, there are clear distinctions according to the Koran as to when violence is appropriate.

Of course, it's a religious matter xkatz, so I'm afraid in the interest of religious tolerance, I'm going to have to ask you to back down.

You seem to assume and/or imply, as I have said before, that ALL Muslims interpret the Koran in the same or similar fashion. What you seem to imply is in fact, not true. There are many Muslim groups such as the Ahmadi and Ismailis that have different interpetations than other Muslim groups.

And you also seem to be trying to get me to back down...? :sarcastic

Yeah you can't have that Western mindset take root in the middle east, wouldn't want people running around respecting women. Being 'unique' isn't always a good thing.

Article

Elton John is supposed to give a private concert in Egypt May 18, but a music organization is colluding with authorities to ban him from performing.

"How do we allow a gay, who wants to ban religions, claimed that the prophet Eissa (Jesus) was gay and calls for Middle Eastern countries to allow gays to have sexual freedom?" head of the Egyptian Musician Union, Mounir al-Wasimi told the German Press Agency DPA.

Almost as bad...the article photo

(They couldn't find a better picture?!)

I dont know, he wants to BAN religions! wow not exactly very tolerant himself if those words are true.

But on the other hand we cant make countries beleive what the west does.
