I'm waiting for the porn ads to show up again. Those Ukrainian women were sexy , even if the same exact picture had different names and ages on them.
You can tune your ads a bit. If you visit a site you will often get ads from it or sites that are similar. Right now I had an ad from this site:

Look at that t-shirt. How could women resist you if you wore that? But if you want to see hot women then go searching for lingerie and bikinis. You might need to buy something for the wife to explain your search history.

When the rules are clear, that's fine with me. Here I paid for a lifetime free use. Was that a good business decision or not? That's not my problem. A contract is a contract. I expect people and companies to live up to their contracts.
And, assuming that it was not "a good business decision," are you willing to see the forums shut down in deference to your expectations? Seriously? :)

Something that I think members need to be aware of is that if you bought a lifetime premium membership before August of 2018, the current owners didn't see any of that revenue.

I've never said this in the open forums before but I've always thought the whole lifetime premium membership thing was kind of sketchy: hypothetically it would only be good until the owners sold the place.

The previous owners came up with the idea in 2015 and then sold the forums in 2018.

They sold a lot of premium memberships in that time without any guarantee that the subsequent owners would honor them.

On the other hand it kind of hobbles the new owners in the sense that every lifetime premium membership sold before 2018 represents potential membership revenue that they won't be able to tap into.

I hope they continue to honor those contracts, but to be honest I wouldn't blame them if they didn't.
Bottom line: never buy any premium membership. Ever. Whatever it promises is as reliable as snake oil.

Apart from this forum, if there was a way to pay to read articles that was secure and wasn't too expensive then I and no doubt many others would happily pay for such, given it is more about not wanting to see any advertising than not paying for anything.

Some premium memberships are better than others.
According to what? Did they pay more?

For me it is very simple: if X says that if you pay Y, then you will never get ads, and you eventually get ads, then X simply lied. Or she was not in the position to make that call. Which is the same thing.

The premium memberships here are pretty straightforward. All they do is remove the ads, period. And up till now they were working just fine.

The 'premium' part isn't the problem. The problem is in buying a lifetime membership to something that's bound to change owners several times over the course of your lifetime.

If you bought a premium membership to Bob's gym, no problem. It means you get to use the spa, the tanning salon, get a discount at the juice bar etc.

But if you bought a lifetime membership and Bob's gym winds up being bought out by Elwood's Fitness, you're probably going to be out of luck.

I have never once been given use of the spa, tanning salon, or a discount at RF's juice bar.

Because that's the only possible explanation. Everybody knows there's no such thing as software glitches, service disturbances during upgrades, or honest mistakes in general.

Those are all myths spread by the Illuminati so they can sell you gym shoes.

A lot of times I noticed the ads relate to a topic as well.

So, is there a way to buy a lifetime membership where "lifetime" is not conditional? And if there isn't, why did Bob sell it as such? maybe he should have said "Bob's lifetime", so that it is clear.

But let's not start talking like the premium memberships were disabled on purpose.

We don't know if they were, and I think it's one of the less likely explanations. More likely it's just one more temporary snafu involving the upgrade.

I can relate. I get a smile from a cashier and I'll walk around with this strut in my step for the rest of the day. :p

Sounds like my husband who is 86 and very sociable. One day in the super market a woman in front of him in the checkout was holding two floral bouquets. He jokingly asked if one was for him. After she checked out she gave him one of the bouquets. I got all excited when he came to the door with flowers until I heard the story.

Lifetime of the website, not lifetime of ownership. Was the impression i got from the advertising blurb

Yeah, but you have to take into account that ad was put there by the previous owners. I'm not sure the current owners have any legal obligation to honor those agreements.

In any case, they have been for the last 5 years since they bought RF, which makes me think it's probable that they'll continue to do so.

Hopefully Informative.

The new owners should honour existing accounts. That is general business practice
