I have not always, but in this time and place… I like laws, and rules, and codes. It imposes Order upon the Chaos around us.

As for the OP… no. I would not see unsuccessful people fined less than successful people for committing the same exact crimes.

So teired "justice" for the rich (most likely born into wealth, privilege, and affluence) who can act with impunity due to facing no substantial consequences to serve as punishment or deterrent?

The same crime should carry the same punishment whether one is wealthy or poor.

Sadly if one is wealthy they can hire good lawyes and get better deals whereas the poor get shafted in many cases.

Well, from a certain point of view they do have to pay the same. It's a set multiple of a day's income for both, so it would hurt both equally.

There's a difference between "wealthy" and "successful."

Well, from a certain point of view they do have to pay the same. It's a set multiple of a day's income for both, so it would hurt both equally.

Yes. It is equal punishment under the law. Though the rich still probably get the better deal They are probably counting income, not total wealth. For the rich the fines would be even higher if there were wealth based rather than income based.

It is supposed to be about equal punishment. A $100 fine for a poor person can be a huge hardship. For a rich person it is a pittance. I read about one rich man in London that would purposefully park illegally. He found the tickets to be cheaper than paying for parking.

I am familiar with someone whose 13 year old daughter was molested by a 39 year old guy in 2016.

In the fall of 2016 the guy was charged with..
-Statutory sodomy - 1st degree - deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 14 yrs old

He and his family are wealthy and hired a couple good lawyers. He has been getting extended/rescheduled court dates since 2016. His next court date is this summer which will probably result in another extension/reschedule.

Soon 7 years will have passed. Eventually it will probably disappear. There is no justice in that.
A poor person would have been in prison years ago.

No, I will not join in on shaming those who were “born into it”. Such hatred is born of envy, and I am jealous of no one.

I encourage other Americans to make something of yourselves while you can, and to become successful… and to leave behind a lasting foundation for your children- and your children’s children- to build upon.

While you are at it… obey our laws.

No one is advocating shaming people just because they are rich. They are merely advocating for equal punishment under the law. You oppose that. Why have such an immoral stance? You are willing to let rich people off the hook much easier than the poor.
