Trump supporter, eh? Supporters come in all forms -- bras, jock straps, plaster casts, etc. Which one are you?
I have a special set of skills.

There were 8 Republicans who would have voted to convict if not for technicalities, and Kamala Harris counts as 1 vote.

That makes 66 votes when 67 would convict. And many who didn't convict want to try him criminally.

Now why is that significant?

There has never been a president before Trump that had a single person in his own party vote to convict him in an impeachment trial, and this was 7!
Pesky technicalities...like the constitution.

I have consistently been on record, I never voted for Trump. But fooling Trump haters is a low bar, they are easily fooled.
I voted for Trump because I did not want the economy to tank further, nor taxes or gas prices to go up, nor the pandemic controls to last longer than necessary, nor the slide into immorality on a national basis to pick up steam again, nor to see Biden undo the good things Trump did.
I did not vote for Trump because I like his style of rhetoric. And I am not a republican. I was born and raised a democrat, but that died with JFK. LBJ was a loon and Nixon was even worse. The two parties are both driven by greed and power-lust, so much so, that when it suits them they won't even support their own and can't say a kind thing about each other in public when power seeking is in mode. Trump did not start that, he excelled at it and shot himself in the foot.
There might be ten people, total, in the house and senate who should actually be there. And now we have a president that no one can trust, who promised to raise taxes, whose public image is one of sliminess. Since he and Trump are on the same level, I opted for lower taxes.

There's an old saying that says, "if you strike at the king, you must make sure you kill him." Quite sensible, too.

So Mitch McConnell struck at the king in his speech AFTER his vote to acquit, when his vote was his sole opportunity to kill the king.

I'd call that a very big oops for somebody with McConnell's vaunted political savvy...
I don't know about Canuckistan (which sounds like the Klingon
home world), but in Ameristan it's illegal to kill our leaders.

If a President can't be tried by the Senate for high crimes and misdemeanors after his last month in office, he can get away with whatever he wants to in that month.
It's a moot issue.
Trump was tried.
But the Senate wisely decided to pronounce
Dear Leader pure as the driven snow.

That is incorrect. Any person, including a President, is subject to the law and prosecution.

What punishment can the Senate impose on an outgoing President found guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors after January 20th?

Please specify how Trump Haters are easily fooled. Give some examples.

For instance, on the other side of the coin:
Trump supporters believed he was going to Build The Wall and have Mexico pay for it. Trump supporters got fooled.

Trump supporters believed his trade war with China was a good thing. Farmers suffered and taxpayers had to cover their losses.

And of course, Trump supporters believed the big lie, that he stated before 2016, that he could only lose if an election was rigged.

Your turn.

And Trump does face possible criminal charges for his role in fomenting a riot that led to sedition by others.
This is indeed a powerful tool of government, ie, that
he can be tried again in federal court, since the Senate
trial is irrelevant to the double jeopardy prohibition.
Moreover, states can prosecute, & tort litigants have
no limits whatsoever. They'll all be nipping at his heels
as long as he lives.
He sure stepped on his own roscoe, eh. But winning office
again in 2024 could bring some relief though. Let's hope.

nor the slide into immorality on a national basis to pick up steam again,

Please specify what slide into immorality you are referring to.

I consider it a slide into immortality when a man of power believes he can grab pussies without fear of retribution.
I consider it a slide into immorality when many people support a person who cheated on his then-pregnant wife.
I consider it a slide into immorality when the president lies repeatedly (30,000 and counting).
I consider it a deep slide into immorality when one-half of the voters in this Country believe a slimeball liar.

I guess you are OK with that sort of thing.

And now we have a president that no one can trust, who promised to raise taxes,

On whom did Biden promise to raise taxes?

The first thing Trump did was give a large tax cut to the wealthy and to large corporations. You and I got a little. Considering the economy was doing very well when he took office, there was no reason to give a tax cut. Years ago, Republicans were screaming about the National Debt. Trump's tax cuts added to the National Debt. I guess you are OK with that.

On whom did Biden promise to raise taxes?
