How Will You be Celebrating MLK Day..?

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
When I think of Martin Luther King I don't much feel like celebrating. It's heartbreaking that we created a society that so abused people for the color of their skin that he had to stand up and struggle so mightily and for so long just to try and get Americans to treat each other like human beings. And that he and everyone who stood up with him had to endure constant humiliation and violent attacks, and imprisonment, and eventually even being murdered. All for daring to point out that we human beings are all equal in the eyes of God, and that the color of a person's skin does not dictate the content of his character. These are not things I feel celebratory about.
A lot of his contributions have improved race relations considerably. Theres work still to be done, but then and now are vastly different, and for the better.

Whats important is MLKs dream is not dead and thats always a good thing.

Well, we decided to go to Gullivers in Irvine instead... It kind of reminds me of the Tam O Shanter... British I think.

...Maybe Monday we'll do soul food. :)

That is something we can celebrate, although right now, it feels like the racists are on the rise.
