Oh, come on now, that's not fair.

We can express it as, "God = X."

Here, X is the definition. So, it's fair to ask that God not be included after the equals sign, but then to complain when Tambourine used God on the LEFT of the equals sign is unfair, I think.

Not that I'm surprised, but many so-called definitions of god in this thread certainly don't make much sense to me...

... then again, I learned a long time ago that it is a terrible idea to let other people define god for you. Everybody ends up defining it in a profoundly biased way, even myself (and I try to be nebulously broad to be as culturally inclusive as I can). Which basically means I understand "god" can be (and is) literally anything and everything.

Define "God" WITHOUT using the word "God"

Try, if you think its possible :)
I don't even try, because I know that "God" is all about the whole universe (what was, what is, and what is yet to come), and I know the limitations of "words" and mind.

That would lead to what I call the Smurf problem.

Smurfs would use the word Smurf to replace other words. So one could say, "I Smurfed it as hard as I could," or, "That's a very Smurfy thing for you to do." And the meaning is somehow known to other Smurfs.

But if the word Smurf can be used to mean any other word, then one could say, "Smurf smurf smurf, smurf smurf smurf smurf smurf," and it is a perfectly valid sentence. The trouble is, such a sentence could mean, "I'll meet you for dinner on Tuesday," but it could also mean, "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up."

So the problem is that a word that can mean anything ultimately means nothing. And if to you God can mean anything and everything, then it too ceases to have any real meaning.

"An imaginary being who can both impose discipline and solve all problems, very like the way your father seemed to you when you were four."
But, this is also true for the letter "x" often used to mean a value that is not yet known :)
