Is it me or RF's search engine?

  • I enter a target term (never more than two words, more often just one).
  • I enter name of "Posted by".
  • I click on "Search" and get nothing, usually because I'm not in the forum that the message I'm looking for is in.
  • So, I go to "Advanced Search" and click on "Search Everything" and get nada.

It works for me, but others have said it doesn't work for them.

It's searching users' posts on their profile that doesn't work for me.

Ditto.
But it recently went from terrible to better for me.

We are not neglecting the problem, @Terry Sampson. The search function will eventually get repaired. Unfortunately, an issue has come up that is causing delays. I am not sure if I am at liberty to divulge the issue, so I'm going to play cautious and keep silent about it. But we are aware of the problem with the search function and I can assure you we will fix it at our first opportunity.

That's okay. I think we can all use our imagination:

- The monkey belonging to @Quagmire got its tail stuck in the fax machine.

- Someone told @SalixIncendium his fashion sense was poor, taking humanity back 100 years in the making.

- @lewisnotmiller installed too large and visible of security cameras in members' houses, causing large backlash after @Nowhere Man started thinking it was the paparazzi and getting his hopes up.

I've have little problem with it, perhaps 1 failure with no results in 10 searches. Repeating a failed search on the same page also fails but refreshing the page and searching again will work (for me)

My problem with the search is that it often produces a high percentage of irrelevant results and have to look through 2 or more pages of results to find what I'm looking for, but that's probably down to me not specifying the search criteria properly
