As Arranged, Trump Has Been Acquitted

This is what bothers me the most about the entire affair.

Whether or not we want to consider it "partisan" the process wasn't respected or adhered to. That sets a troubling precedent. If the process was "partisan" that happened as a direct result of both parties - but especially Republicans - refusing to take of their blasted red and blue shirts and work in a bipartisan fashion. This has been an ongoing problem for a long time and this ridiculous partisan bickering is going to be the end of this country. When folks can't even set aside their damn t-shirts to respect the system, it's done. That represents such a fundamental disunity that disfunction is the only thing that will continue in Washington. The trouble is, I don't believe the people are any better in this regard.

Do we want this country to actually be a democracy, or not? And more critically, do we want it to actually be representative and make significant reforms to put us on that road?
"The trouble is, I don't believe the people are any better in this regard. "

The people in question are those fixated on their television sets, who wouldn't know reality if it bit them on the bum. The pure hucksterism that we saw in the SOTU address last night is example enough -- "the people" believe what their preachers tell them to, because thinking for themselves, working it out, taking responsibility is a huge lot of trouble. So why bother?

Every witness only gave an opinion and the evidence was a dud. Every Senators already heard the evidence in the House hearings.Dems didn't want to follow procedure for their own case in the House. Dems blew it. The Senate has no obligation to help the House make a case it should have completed in the House. Dems took an incomplete case to trial. That is all on the Dems

If only it were that simple. When the Administration refused to cooperate with the investigation, an investigation couldn't be completed. Congress basically went "yup, we're going to help this con-artist engage in a cover-up" and rigged the entire thing from day one instead of taking their Congressional duties seriously with respect to the separation of powers and checks-and-balances system.

So I suppose in a bizarre, roundabout way, the President isn't guilty of obstruction of Congress when Congress itself is complicit in the cover-up? But that's not how the checks-and-balances system is supposed to work.
On the upshot, democracy has spectacularly failed over the last several decades in addressing the most significant issue in all of human history. A dictator could very well succeed where democracy has failed. Personally, I prefer the grassroots solution, but... eh, I try to be the optimist.

She is conflicting things as per her distorted comparison of abortion. The US is providing a choice to the citizens while China is forcing people to have an abortion. Read what you link and think about for more than 5 secs. All her points make me suspect that she is either A) stupid B) getting a pay check c) A and B

Li is conflating restriction on speech with socialism. One does not need to be a socialist to advocate against free speech. KSA has it and it's a monarchy.

The abortion issue was only half the article. There's a lot more to it.

With that you're also including all the hundreds if not thousands of Chinese Americans and other countries fleeing socialist and communist countries essentially saying the same exact thing as being
A) stupid
B) getting a pay check
c) A and B

Like I said , we'll just agree to disagree.

Trump tells the mob he will never allow "socialism" and they lap it up.. They don't even think.
Please allow me to suggest a slight rephrase, from "they don't even think" to "they can't even think." I can't tell you how many people I meet these days whose "heart-felt convictions" are little more than the opinions they received from their most recent conversation in the local pub.

When Rush Limbaugh is given the highest award a civilian can receive from the President who also commended Alex Jones...

Did you ever ask yourself why they don't run their own candidates but rather back the socialist Democrats by getting (deeply) involved in the election* ?

A little excerpt...

~"It is about choosing what direction the country will go in. So, we work with allies in the union movement, "~. CPUSA

Why does the CPUSA support Democratic Party candidates for the presidency instead of running their own candidates?

I would say if you have the backing/support of the Communist party of the United States would would willingly forgo their own candidates for the socialist Democratic party , there's a real problem.
What viable alternatives to Dems and Reps have we allowed? Libertarian and Green sometimes get in, every once in awhile some other group, but election laws makes it very difficult for such candidates to make it on each state's ballot.
And, does this criticism also apply to Libertarians and their political alliance with social and religious conservatives? Those who do want the government in your bedroom and in your doctors office? And want us all praying to their Jesus?

Maybe it's time to end the two party system and bring in some new ones.

When reading the output of Limbaugh over the years -- an absolute travesty. (But what else would one expect from this cretin? He'll personally give blow-jobs to every member of his "base" that he thinks will vote for him again, if that's what it takes.)
