Is the UK the first country ever to sign an agreement that imposes sanctions on itself. And brags that it is a great deal?

But they're failing, because a large number of them voted to leave the EU for reasons that were found to be false (such as how much the EU cost or Turkey potentially joining - when I've spoken with leavers myself, these two things came up fairly consistently).

Do you mean how the UK was the third largest contributor to the EU budget? And that Turkey tried to join the EU and failed?

So how do you explain the fact that support for leaving the EU has actually slightly declined since the referendum?
SOURCE: If there was a referendum on Britain’s membership of the EU, how would you vote? (Eurotrack)

I think there has been an effort by powerful people who benefit from, or realize the benefits of, being in the EU to convince people to remain in the EU. Those in power seemed not to want to go along with the result of the referendum and seemed to want to find a way to change opinion in their favor to avoid going through with Brexit. I also don't really expect a poll to carry the weight of a true referendum. It's important to be careful about poll results, especially when the results are close. I can see that the percent of people who responded "Don't know" dropped by almost 10%, in the months leading up to the 23 June 2016 referendum, which seems to show how people tend to form stronger opinions when a decision actually matters.

Because it's easy to show people facts to establish a belief, but harder to convince them that they have accepted a lie, because to do so carries the implication that they were gullible. Since the leave campaign was largely based around either facts that were later exposed as false, or fact-free positions such as sovereignty, or outright rejecting the opinions of experts, it becomes difficult to use facts to convince people.

You cannot reason someone out of a position that they didn't reason themselves into.

Yeah, I don't think that "facts" and "lies" carry the same weight as values and trust. "Who people are" can be more important than "what they say". The advice of a trusted friend is more highly regarded than the opinions of strangers. When an expert voices a public opinion, people often want to know: who's paying to have him speak? This is especially true when it's an opinion and not a fact that's being promoted. It is known that people often arrange facts and logic to suit their opinions or to push an agenda.

.
The amount paid in was a lie, the benefits received were understated.
Yes, Turkey did apply for membership, it had to meet certain criteria, it failed and then Erdogan got in and it went backwards - no chance of it joining in the near fututure.

I do not knpw much of anything about Brexit.
That being said, I have this pic that keeps showing up on my Facebook newsfeed and I am wondering how accurate it actually is:

I notice that the Alt-right standard answer to a question they can't answer is becoming, "You really hate your country" or a version of that.

e.g. "I think Brexit will be a disaster" - "You really hate your country"
"We will not get the trade deals promised" - "Why are you not more patriotic?"
"All we are gaining is a blue passport" - "Why are you so negative about our country?"

If that is the case, it is better than you lot calling them racist at every opportunity.

When have you ever been right?
You don't know what British Values are
You don't know what the benefits of Brexit are
What do you know?

You know that I and the rest of the Brexeteers are right, but you just can’t bring yourself to admit it yet.

Given enough time for Brexit to be a proven success, you and the rest of the Remoaners will be dancing in the streets proclaiming that Brexit was all your idea in the first place.

If you could name the advantages, you may convince me, but you can't name one beyond new 50p piece and a blue passport
