The Slow Death Of Christianity In The United States

Bingo! ' more patriotic / civic activities ' or in other words, Not following Jesus words found at John 17:14
Sinner Satan is the ' god ' of this world of badness - 2nd Cor. 4:4, so it is No wonder at 1st John 5:19 we read the whole world lies in Satan's power.
Friendship with the corrupt world makes one an enemy of God - James 4:4.
Not saying Christians should Not obey the law of the land in which they are living ( as long as the law does Not conflict with God's Law ) but Jesus instructed first 'spiritual' activities for his followers such as found at Matthew 24:14; Acts1:8 to proclaim the good news of God's kingdom of Daniel 2:44 to everyone.

Daniel never wrote anything about Jesus. He was writing about Antiochus IV Epiphanes and the Abomination of Desolation.

I don't believe Christianity in itself is dying. Possibly church membership maybe slowing down. However Christians are staying Christian and many just deciding not to go to church.

My nephew was raised up very religious, Kathy my sister and her 4 kids, 3 of them go to church like her, but Jose dropped out. i asked why. He saus hes still Christian but tired of the big Baptist and other churches having a Pastor who makes 350 thousand dollars a year, and even the small churches he says makes too much money. He doesn't understand why Pastor need to make the money they do.

So hes Christian just not in church.

Many abandon organized religion for spirituality.

But not everywhere. In some places it's actually flourishing.

No, what you should write is, "I believe in the theory that Daniel is about Antiochus IV Epiphanes and the Abomination of Desolation."
Others believe there was no bible written during this time because scripture was "sealed" after the time of Ezra, Nehemia and Malachi.
Others also hold that the one who came to his temple while it was still standing, the one taken away by Rome, was Jesus.

Sealed after the Old Testament? Are you confused?

And that accounts for the drug addiction and broken homes today.

LOL Religious people are no more moral than anyone else, and sometimes less so. Religions don't change your personality or morals, just your perspective. Spirituality tends to be deep and less narrow minded than religion, but it depends on the religion. The least religious countries have the lowest crime rates.

And why might it be happening ?

THE EVIDENCE.

So, what's going on here?

Why is the Christian religion, especially the Protestants, tanking so badly, and its members not fleeing to other religions, but to "nones" and "no religion," no less? And the Catholic religion really isn't doing much better; hanging on by its fingernails while its clergy takes a nose dive. .

In all, a pretty dire picture of Christianity in the USA.

Not at all....

The remnant is slowly building its fire, reaching out, infiltrating the 7 mountains of influence, and we are everywhere. World desperation will be our call to action :D

The Seven Mountains of Societal Influence In 1975, Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade and Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth With a Mission(YWAM), developed a God-given, world-changing strategy. Their mandate: Bring Godly change to a nation by reaching its seven spheres, or mountains, of societal influence.

The only reason most Christians are leaving the churches,
Because for those Christians, like myself, that does not belong to any church.
Because in those churches people are being taught by man's teachings and not the teachings of Christ Jesus.

Jesus Christ condemned the teachings of man's in Matthew 15:7-9.
7 You hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men"

So why would I want to belong to a church knowing that Jesus Christ condemned man's teachings.
And that Pastor,Preacher, if I'm not wrong is a man.
Therefore man's teachings.

9--"But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men"
But it's more than leaving churches, it's leaving the religion.

Hmmm. The stats say quite differently. Stat one, which shows a Protestant affiliation dropping from 69% in 1988 to 50% in 2018 amounts to a 28% drop in 30 years. If such a decline continues, by 2048 Protestant affiliation will amount to only 36%.

In all, a pretty dire picture of Christianity in the USA.

The decline is probably mostly due to the failure of the Christian paradigm to keep pace with modern ideas and modern people. As long as churches believe in fantasies about Christian origins and the infallibility of its scriptures, it is digging its own grave.

There is a slight chance that "emergent" Christianity has a chance of surviving, because it is scientifically literate; it understands that scripture is rarely to be taken as literal fact - and that literal fact, at least in spirituality, is secondary to metaphorical truth; and even that Jesus did not need to be a literal historical biographical biological human person in order that the transcendent message attributed to him be both true and practicable.

There is always an ebb and flow. As people get all of their desires filled and then find that at the end of that process they still aren't satisfied and the vacuum is there, then the Holy Spirit comes in.

When evil abounds so much that people realize for all the efforts that man puts forth isn't working, the vacuum is there, and then the Holy Spirit comes in.

It only took one Ester to change things around, four Hebrews for the time of Nebuchadnezzar, one Jesus to begin a movement, 12 apostles to change a world, one Azusa Street to catch their time on fire.

God is still working. :)

I assume you have evidence of this. Please share.

Thank you.:)

Sealed after the Old Testament? Are you confused?

The books of Maccabees was an account of the Greek rule over Israel.
These two books are considered "apocrypha", ie not a part of the bible
to most people (think the Catholics see it differently)
Had Maccabees been written before Babylon they might have been
enclosed in the "canon." But truth be told, prior to the coming of the
Greeks the "bible" as the Jews knew it had become a closed book.

In any case "scholars" have a theory which doesn't fit all the facts
about Daniel. They devised a theory which can "plausibly" account
for SOME of the facts, and "explain away" the book. But the account
of the Messiah, the end of Jerusalem and end times are not explained
by the theory that Daniel was written between the Greek and Roman
occupation of Israel.

I don't think they were politically neutral at all. Look at the Sermon on the Mount. The Roman occupation was the burning question of the day.
...and what about the Sermon on the Mount is political___________________
So, 'Roman occupation' issue was Not the taking of any sides with the 1st-century Christians.
Even Pilate at John 18:37 was concerned and wanted to know if Jesus was there to overthrow ________
Jesus tells Pilate he was there to 'teach' (Not overthrow).

Daniel never wrote anything about Jesus. He was writing about Antiochus IV Epiphanes and the Abomination of Desolation.
I find Messiah mentioned at Daniel 9:25-26 is about a future Messiah who proved to be Jesus.
Jesus instructed to teach about God's kingdom as mentioned at Daniel 2:44.
God's kingdom government in the hands of Christ Jesus for a thousand years will crush the statue's feet.
We are now at the statue's ' time of the toes ' or more like the ' time of the toenails ' before Jesus takes action.

History... it isn't the first time that spirituality waned.
Of course it has to do with history, "events of the past," but what are the particular events you're referring to? The when and where this ebb and flow you speak of took place.
