Should Society Ban The Abrahamic Religions And How?

Are you saying we should ban the belief of others because you don't like it?
Trying to ban what people believe is going to accomplish what?

Would this war on belief be like the war on drugs?

Not saying that i am saying that the doctrines of the 3 Abrahamic religions contains verses of violence and hate and promises of heaven for thoise that follow and hell for those that do not
These doctrines are arming young impressionable people with God is on my side complexes and then they go out and kill......Islamists and Christian Fundamentalists IMO
Don't worry i wouldn't want to ban your drugs

@icehorse “... atheist does not always go“ ((has not ever gone)) “hand in hand with secularism” ((under any anti-theistic government or other administration.))

- FTFY

I believe we're discussing folks like Stalin. Yes, he called to ban religion, but that was so that he could install himself as a demigod. He wasn't against religion, he just wanted to create his own (cult).

Secularism supports freedom OF religion (better than any religious leadership does), and freedom FROM religion.

Christians want to go to the streets and condemn sinners
Yes, this is such a problem..

When was the last time you saw 'Christians!', on the streets condemning sinners? This is a false caricature, to generate anti-christian sentiment through fear and loathing.

In America, all kinds of idealogies and opinions are 'on the streets!', promoting their agenda. You think the horrible 'Christians!', should not be allowed that freedom? Gays, muslims, democrats, anarchists, communists, and every ism imaginable are free to chant in the streets with placards, but the 'problem!! ..is 'Christian fundamentalists?!!'

Maybe because it constantly shoves itself into public discourse?
When was the last Jewish outcry against working on the Sabbath?
When was the last Christian outcry against working on the sabbath?

.Right up to the point when some religious extremist murders a whole load of people but hey that is Ok .After all the texts are sacred and so what if they condone murder and stoning, persecution and creating fear and guilt into those that have been indoctrinated. They are not only armed with bombs they are armed with God
That's all ok because........?

Unless you can show the IDEOLOGY as the instigator of the act, it is a simple human crime. It is prejudicial and bigoted to condemn an ideology for the acts of an individual, unless you can prove the ideology caused the action.

Fear mongering scapegoats that are competing with your own ideological beliefs is just an attempt to eliminate the competition.

dude, ya gotta read your own thread - i'm largely agreeing with you. in this moment a side issue of attacking atheists came up.

You mean, like, facts? Yes, those are harder to revise and redefine, but not in Progresso World! ;)

What you mean your christian facts? or the jewish facts or the Muslim ones. Don't make me laugh!
I am not against christianity i am against all Abrahamic religions.
Tell me how your Jesus has saved us. After all he is the son of God, right? so 2000 years after his death it all worked out right in the end yes?
Christianity has been as divisive force as the other two. Anything that divides is man-made. Anything that unites, comes from God. Go through your books and remove the divisions and then I might understand where you are coming from.

But it has been shown over and over and over for 1000 years.

Facts are facts, and are not philosophically subjective.

The rest of your anti-christian screed is presumably the justification for the premise of the thread:
Ban Christianity!

Banning of texts/practices/rituals/habits/etc. shouldn't be done - as it is an unnecessary restriction of freedoms that is practically unenforceable.

But there is, I feel, something that might make things better. And that is that it become expected/demanded by everyone in society that everyone else keep their religious beliefs to themselves and their circle, and in public discourse we rigorously demand ONLY secular/evidenced/realistic/supported argumentation in support of any idea/topic/issue.

IMO Given the harm they do, given all the trouble caused in the world by them they should be banned, but how? People have the right to believe what they will and worship as they see fit. These are human rights, but they turn people against people, spawn extremism and give their followers a false and divisive view of the world.
How could they be banned? How can these divisive, misleading, tribal, anachronistic dogmatic and destructive forces be done away with without the obvious cries of outrage.
We would have to tread very carefully. How could it be done? What would the first steps be.
I would suggest a piecemeal ban of various passages as a start. For example everything that stirs up hatred of another religion or violence towards another should be edited out.
Is it the case that we are powerless even to take the first step in this direction because of human rights and the good (far outweighed by the bad IMO) these religions sometimes do.
Can we really not sort this nonsense out?
My solution would be to ban all the holy books and just allow Genesis up to 9:19 (everything after that is just tribal self-interest but that is unrealistic and dictatorial.
What else could be done? Just keep in mind the thousands of lives that have been lost / ruined because of these divisive forces.
Looks like a hopelessly prejudiced viewpoint to me.
Completely cranked idea.

It is probably not possible to be more hypocrite than that.
