I’ll add that Mormonism has taught me how so-called “faith” can blind even the most rationale person. I believed for decades. Not anymore. I don’t know how a person can use reason to examine the evidence and conclude anything other than the foundations of the Mormon Church being a total farce.

I stumbled across this video and was wondering what the Mormons here have to say about it. . . . .or anyone else, for that matter.

Thanks for the heads up, @Revoltingest. I wouldn't have seen it if you hadn't tagged me as Skwim's on my ignore list. I watched some of the video, but I'm getting ready to leave the house and won't be available to comment in much detail either today or tomorrow. As is the case with most anti-Mormon videos, the majority of the information being presented is either completely false, taken out-of-context, highly embellished or otherwise worded in such a way that it is sure to maximize shock value. People generally want to believe the worst; it helps them justify their bigotry. Let's put it this way... This video is not intended to be educational. It's not intended to be objective. It's not intended to be accurate. I wish I had more time today to respond, but I don't suppose the world will end if don't.Something tells me that @Katzpur is needed here.
OH, a classical tabloid-style bashing video. Going on about the people "hiding" stuff when stuff is put over their website with encouragement for people to read it, and it's been talked about for decades (everything in here is extremely old hat tabloids). But the tabloid video conveniently neglects to mention the, provide links, or encourage folks to check things out for themselves..

So, are all of them facts or not? If not, which ones?OH, a classical tabloid-style bashing video. I recall celebrating the 4th of July with some Mormon friends in a LDS Church...but the elders (missionaries) of the Church didn't want my sister to enter because she was (quote) "not dressed properly"...
yeah....was she supposed to dress like a nun in Italian July?
The video's entire premise/thesis is false: none of these are hidden. Besides that huge false thesis, the video does conveniently leave out a lot of critical facts and doesn't encourage people to look up things themselves. Do you know why someone who put together a video with a false thesis, leave out critical facts, and not encourage others to look at thing for themselves? So, are all of them facts or not? If not, which ones?

After all, there's only so much embarrassment a guy can take. Sorry about that Katz. Thanks for the heads up, @Revoltingest. I wouldn't have seen it if you hadn't tagged me as Skwim's on my ignore list.
Well, regardless of its intent, I found it educational; however, if it's in error don't you think it wise to set those errors straight?I watched some of the video, but I'm getting ready to leave the house and won't be available to comment in much detail either today or tomorrow. "Don't suppose"? You have doubts? My, my, how modest of you.I wish I had more time today to respond, but I don't suppose the world will end if don't.
Err, 14 is 14 is 14 is14. Obviously you think she should be regarded as 15, so clearly if she had been just a few months short of having been 13 you'd feel she should be regarded as 13. Interesting. But here's my response to "Big Secret #1: Joseph Smith married girls as young as 14!" I'm afraid this is will have to do for now...
Joseph Smith married Helen Mar Kimball just a few months short of her 15th birthday.
Is there any evidence they did not consummate the marriage? He had not been pursuing her. It wasn't even his idea to marry her. Her father, Heber C. Kimball, requested that she be sealed to Joseph. There is no evidence that the marriage was ever consummated.
So what? The fact remains that Joseph Smith married a girl only14 years old.In point of fact, she continued to live at home with her parents after the sealing. Less than two years later, she married a young man she'd fallen in love with. They had twelve children together.
How do you know he didn't intend to have sex with her (your implication)? Did he ever say, "I have no intent on having sex with any of the girls," or words to that effect? So why would a man marry a woman (or young girl) if he didn't intend to have sex with her?
So what? And even if he never had sexual intercourse with them, which is extremely unlikely, there's always oral and anal sex. Most of Joseph's marriages (and there were many) were considered to be "spiritual" in nature, uniting him and the woman in the next life. Joseph Smith never fathered a single, solitary child with any woman other than his first wife, Emma. He had eleven children with her, so obviously he was fertile.
Lacking any denial that the 10 are indeed facts I have to assume you agree they are. However, if there's some mitigating evidence that substantially changes the 10, please share. Please set us straight. The video's entire premise/thesis is false: none of these are hidden. I'm waiting until you acknowledge that the entire thesis of the video is false.Lacking any denial that the 10 are indeed facts I have to assume you agree they are. However, if there's some mitigating evidence that substantially changes the 10, please share. Please set us straight.

This. Unfortunately, modern Mormonism is akin to the Pharisees of old who placed strict obedience to the letter of the law above all else.I recall celebrating the 4th of July with some Mormon friends in a LDS Church...but the elders (missionaries) of the Church didn't want my sister to enter because she was (quote) "not dressed properly"...
yeah....was she supposed to dress like a nun in Italian July?
That’s very nice of you, but how is telling the truth “bashing?”I watched the video all of it and my personal view is it came across to me as a Mormon bashing video.
I don’t believe in the Book of Mormon or Joseph Smith but I do believe Mormons are my fellow human brothers and sisters deserving of dignity and respect.
Can you tell me which facts were false?I'm waiting until you acknowledge that the entire thesis of the video is false.
