Jews are not trying to build a Temple/synagogue on the Temple Mount

It seemed very blinded to the spirit by the letter of the law to me. Hey, if that makes sense to you and is how you want to engage with your religion, more power to you. I wish you all the best.
What are you basing this comment on? You haven't seen any discussion of the spirit of the Law here, so I don't see what yardstick you are using to determine whether or not we are blinded by the letter of the Law. Are you just regurgitating the author of the book of Mark?

My question, though, is what about people whose interest isn't in legalistic jots and tittles, but see things in a more "big picture" type way, and just want a 3rd Temple. What would you say to them?

A Temple created in a way that does not conform to G-d's stated Will, is how we got in trouble with the Golden Calf.

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...

no, I'm expressing my opinion

I understand that. Do you understand there are people who believe that building the Temple is the important part of "God's stated will" rather than complying with what they will claim are insignificant legal minutiae?

Your expressing your opinion based on an OP that doesn't deal with the half the content your opinion expresses?

People who claim that they can divide G-d's Will into important parts and unimportant parts have inflated egos.

sorry, you lost me?

And you're entitled to believe so. That does not, however, address the issue that such people exist, whatever you think of their egos, so I reiterate my earlier question.

Just restating the same thing as above. Your opinion on whether or not we are blinded to the spirit of the Law by the letter, appears to be based on a discussion that doesn't touch on the spirit of the Law. Which would make it a foolish basis for forming an opinion about it.

I thought you were asking "what would I say to them" as you did above. Whether or not such people exist is irrelevant. They're either ignorant Jews or not Jews.

There's a hill on the farm back in Wales. I can build a little temple just for you there @Tumah to keep you going in the interim. We'll call it the 2.5th Temple. I'll make a special annex where you can run your bagel business and a ten-storey building next door for you to keep your vast brood of children in.

The rolling green hills of Whales. Sounds peaceful. Are you going to be cool with the slaughter of a couple goats and sheep every day? Also can you take care of any permits? I'm not sure what you need to run a Temple, what with the slaughter and butchering, the fires and the smell. Probably a zoning law that will need to be worked out.

Exactly who are these people? Can you provide some names? Do these people have an organization, or organizations, that espouses that position? Can you provide the name or names?

Blinded to the spirit.... by the letter of the law. Concerned only with "legalistic jots and tittles". We've been hearing that for 2,000 years.

Not only does that seem to indicate a lack of familiarity with Judaism, it's getting kind of old.

Not individually. Do you not think they exist? Messianic Jews tend to be into it, as do many American Evangelicals.

What does voting have to do with anything? I thought this conversation was about the building of a temple which reflects a theocratic system, not a democratic one.
Uh-huh. Who do you think these people expect to clear the current users of the site from it for them?
