Dumbing our children down to further a political agenda.

It seems like the lowering of education happened decades ago as the dumbing down continues... I believe it started when they said God was a persona non grata. :D

Then why is it that those who want to cut funding to schools and curtail science curriculum are the same ones who want to mandate prayer and proselytization in schools? And why is it that the countries with the highest ratings in education are secular?

Yes... secular is now the highest rating after they took God out of the schools.

My grandchildren are in a Christ Centered home school. In fourth grade they can already name every mayor world event for the last 1500 years and beyond. Can you name me a school that accomplishes that?

In 7th grade they are taking logic, debate, and fallacies. Which school does that?

And the question is... why is "climate change" in Kindergarten?

And then I have another question:

" Examples of environmental effects could include negative biological impacts of wind turbines, erosion due to deforestation, loss of habitat due to dams, loss of habitat due to surface mining, and air pollution from burning of fossil fuels."

Isn't this just a little one sided?

Maybe their effort is more about getting politics out of education?

So is that why trying to continually muck up public education are those who think it's perfectly acceptable to force every student regardless of personal religious beliefs and creeds to participate in and acknowledge the Christian religion?

Obviously not a single school, including the one you mentioned, as it's simply ludicrous and absurd to think any program would include every major world event over the past 1500 years. It would be a study that would require many, many years, well into a graduate level program. But even a doctorate in history isn't going to know every major world even over such a time span, even if they have a good idea about a good chunk of them that happened.

So you admit that the quality increased after they stopped treating schools like churches and instead focused on useful things?

I'll make sure to tip generously when they pump my gas.

They're obviously doing the exact opposite. Attempting to keep children ignorant of science just to further their own political agenda.

Please note that dumbing down America tends to support one political party. I am not naming names but one can check for education level and political affiliation to see why some could consider it to be beneficial.

I've no doubt that the republican party depends on an uninformed/uneducated electorate to win elections. How else could you get people to vote against their own interests?

My southern baptist homeschool education taught creationism instead of evolution. I had to teach myself about evolution as an adult, and even then I only have the basics. I'll have to revisit it again later, Meh...

It taught other things as well- some of them in very subliminal, messed up ways. For example, segregation!

harmony-is-black.png

The black students with the black school, the white students with the white school, and never the twain shall meet.

My opinions on religious schooling aren't very positive, as you might have guessed...

Are you saying they shouldn't have? Which God, Allah, Brahman, etc. should they teach about? And what about "Gods"?And which kind of prayer should be used?

Since when is established science, which the above list certainly is, "one sided"? Now, obviously there can be serious discussions on the cost of being environmentally conscious, but no serious discussion can occur if we can't even agree on the basic facts, such as why I am so much handsomer than you.

If memory serves me correctly, even prayer was outlawed whether it was The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Allah or Brahman...

They were all kicked out. :D

I do believe these things should be discussed... but not "shoved down" people's esophagus. If you looked at what I said, I just took note that it seemed "one-sided". For an example:

" Examples of environmental effects could include negative biological impacts of wind turbines, erosion due to deforestation, loss of habitat due to dams, loss of habitat due to surface mining, and air pollution from burning of fossil fuels."

No mention of "reforestation" to prevent erosion, the "new" habitats due to dams and the benefit of water control, prevention of flooding, fishing, etc. Or how about "pro's and con's of wind turbined instead of only "negative".

Notice the first picture of a tital wave hitting Washington D.C.... is that a promo of some sort?

Notice the statement "The temperature in Boise hit 59 degrees on Feb. 2, tying a 137-year record high.".... wait a minute... a tie for something that happened 137 years ago? That is supportive documentation for climate change?

Sounds like a one sided report and it makes me wonder what they ommitted that didn't support their position.

HOWEVER, my dear friend, I am all for pro/con discussion at the appropriate grade levels. I am all for recycling, planting trees when we harvest trees (we need to tell the fires of California to do the same), clean coal, and dams along with cars and airplanes. :D

Organized prayer was kicked out. People are still free to pray on their own.

As to climate changes and new high temperatures, it is the pattern of new highs, and the relative lack of new lows that tells us that the climate is warming. If it was cooling there should be more new lows than new highs. If it was staying the same temperature the two should be roughly equal. New high temperatures are currently out pacing new low temperatures at a rate of 2 to 1:

Climate Signals | Record High Temps vs. Record Low Temps

Yes... I agree that climate changes.

Not quite correct. What was outlawed is teachers and school officials leading students in prayers. Students can still form clubs and organizations to practice and discuss their faith, per the Federal Equal Access Act. What was prohibited is teachers promoting a religion, which really is inappropriate when you consider they are there to teach students of ALL KINDS of backgrounds.

Actually, that was AFTER they sued on the basis of Freedom of Religion. If you made a picture of Jesus on the cross for artwork, it was deemed improper. If you mentioned Jesus as the valedictorian, you were censored. To this day, it still has to be addressed:

Teacher tells student he can't read the Bible in classroom

You do realize that teachers make mistakes all of the time, don't you? Teachers also try to force kids to say the pledge of allegiance, or even force them to stand for it. They simply can't do that. The teacher in your article appears to have stepped over the line as well.

No, that was always the case. And it was always improper for teachers to lead prayer, they simply had a weak excuse, that they did not know better. Now they know. No organized prayer.

Yes... I agree that climate changes.

Cherry picked graph. Climate change is over a range of decades, not years. Like it or not it is clearly getting warmer, and the results are in. Humans are the major cause of global climate change.

Maybe, since it isn't your faith, you don't know the historicity of it all. This "mistake" (purposefully shaming a student) is the leftover of a very overtly anti-religion effort until the Constitution kicked in.
