Do you feel free?If not what are you slave to?

I don't feel free.

I am afraid people can hurt me so i am slave to my fears.
I am slave to a profession i don't like.
I don't fit in to society so i am a slave to society's rules.

In general i pretty much feel like i am in a prison.

I am not free. Nor am I independent (another false claim that is common).

Instead what I have is a permitted range of behaviour (based on factors ranging from money to laws). That range of permitted behaviour increases or decreases depending on where you are in the world, but nobody is free.

Also, I am not independent. I have a job which I am dependent on for money, I am dependent on the sun, the moon and the earth for my survival, dependent on the bearing of crops and the breeding of animals for my food.

Do I feel free? Yes. I feel and behave under the illusion of free will as much as anyone.

Do I believe in free will? No. But the term "slavery" would misconstrue of the nature of this one's determinist position. I don't subscribe to the kind of pessimistic fatalism echoed in the OP, though during periods of clinical depression, I sure have. Are you okay, dave?

Partly free.

Never completely, yet however there will always be a venue of freedom between the constraints that one can navigate.

A slave can feel free. Cite: Bob Marley.

I don't feel free, "Redemption Song."

You're undoubtedly in a prison. But a slave doesn't have to be.

I'm free.

I know with absolute certainty that I'm free so this question never comes up and I can just focus on whatever is needed. ☺

I feel an illusion of freedom, yes.

Right now I have the resources, for example, to fly to almost any spot in the world and check that place out. That feels pretty free.

The idea of free will in truth doesn't make much sense to me though. And I feel constrained by some degree of biology and economics.

I'm not sure how I feel, a bit busy with school work to worry about that. But my answer is actually a bit semantic, since it was aout how I feel. Intellectually I don't consider myself free for different reasons, I just don't have the time to feel anothing about it right now :p.
