I looked it up, I think it was meant to be magick, yet I'm just not a fan of Wiccan theology and I tend to want to stay away from the things that they teach, since I think it might trickle down. What I dislike about it, is more of a personal issue then I would like to get into. Magic is pretty much the non-wiccan variety, Chaos magic and things like that, though I've probably messed up the terminology horribly.Start off by telling me what you think the difference is between magic and "magik" and what about magick, eh? Its a pretty extensive subject and the best way to have a conversation about it is to clearly represent where you're coming from so we can speak to your experiences. What about "Wiccan" magic(K?) is it that you don't like?
Would you be so kind? You might get more information in the Magic DIR. I can move the thread, if you like.
Yes, I know that the two are seperate, but I think Wiccans have distinct rituals that I'm not really a fan of.Speaking as a Wiccan, I've always thought of magic as just magic. I've never felt the need to stick a k onto a word as magic is not related to a specific religion. Many different religions practice magic in varying forms. There is no "Wiccan magic", there are Wiccan beliefs and there is magic that a Wiccan happens to perform. Wicca is a religion, not a type of magic.
Yeah, but most of those are primarily worship.Yes, I know that the two are seperate, but I think Wiccans have distinct rituals that I'm not really a fan of.

All of the above really, philosophy first, instruction and then method comparison, so I know what I need to about the subject.Yeah, but most of those are primarily worship.
Me, I'm not a fan of ANY ritual magic. I was an energy worker.
What precisely are you looking for in this thread? Instructions, philosophy, method comparison?
my philosophies on violence don't really belong in this thread. What rules would that be? Religious rules? The only main rule in Wicca is to harm none. That includes oneself, so actions done to protect oneself are acceptable. We just don't go out of our way to actually hurt someone on purpose. That is a religious belief. That has nothing to do with magic itself though. Are you not a fan of trying not to harm others or something?
I'm fine with the use of blood in religious rituals.Or maybe he thinks that Wiccans use bloodletting?
OK.All of the above really, philosophy first, instruction and then method comparison, so I know what I need to about the subject.

Storm's Safety Rule # 2: Never shed blood for magic!I'm fine with the use of blood in religious rituals.
Ah, so you are looking for "that" kind of magick. No wonder you are turned off to Wicca.
Now, as for instructions, how far along are you in your development? You need to build up your energy and/or your ability to sense magick in order to use it.
Philosophy: for me, magick really has no philosophy. There are no rules like in Wicca, except maybe the etiquette, but that is a different issue. There are certain things you do and never do (but this is my opinion as well).
Method comparison, to what? Wiccan philosophy? Magick is magick is magick, no matter what sect or tradition you go to. What varies is how they use it and what restrictions are placed on the caster.
Edit: Storm brings up a good point. Magick is VERY unpredictable, and using straight magick can be pretty darn dangerous, hence the reasons traditions have restrictions in place. The restrictions are there mainly for your own safety.
OK.
I may get some strong disagreement on this, but ritual magic is (imx) dangerously unpredictable. It's predicated on tricking the subconscious into performing the magic without guidance. Sometimes it works, sure. More often, nothing happens at all, beyond warm fuzzy feelings, and on occasion it goes dangerously awry. STAY AWAY!
Beyond that, where would you like me to start? The nature of magic (in my view, of course)?
I do reiterate that blood is NOT for amateurs.
