I for one dont like Lady G. at all. she's sending a bad message to kids who listen to her. sooner or later, all the younger kids are going to want to dress like her and act like her. and some of her songs are sending a bad message to some people.

What is this bad message, precisely? To be pretentious and have shallow tastes? And teeny boppers inevitably act and dress like clowns regardless.

It reminds me of all the Devout Christian parents
who condemned Harry Potter
but had never actually read it.

Not having an interest in a thing
based on past experience is one thing.
But putting a value judgment on a thing
you have never seen
is ... well...
nothing more than a PREjudice.
(or a "pre" judgement)

Sometimes people are too easily persuaded
(and impressed) ;)
by THEIR OWN prejudices.

Ahh. and I don't even see the need for "Alejandro" it's disgusting and gross. that's why my parents wont let me listen to her. and at that, Lady G. is a bad role model :yes:

Oops. Didn't know it was your daughter, but I didn't think I was being mean, either. Nothing I said targeted her.

And my issue with Gaga isn't that she champions gay rights and sexual freedom, which are things that I agree with. It's that, like every other pop star and their music, is two-dimensional cookie cutter crap that relies on cheap shock value, gimmicks and sleaze rather than artistic merit.
And while I support sexual freedom, responsibility and self respect cannot be stressed enough, and mainstream media skirts that. So you have naive and impressionable teeny boppers trying to emulate this stuff in their desperate arms race for coolness.

You weren't being mean. I just wanted you to have a head's up. I think that any little girl her age would be turned off by fellatio (or at least I hope so). Becky came up with her objections to Lady Gaga on her own, I never say anything about her or ever watched any of her videos. Becky saw that one, Elejandro (???) at her friend's house and never mentioned it to me. I asked her about it last night after I read about it here. I wish kids would talk to their parents more.

I'm not trying to cross you against your mom hun,
but I see GaGa as a good role model,
for various reasons,
and I have no problem with any of my children
watching or listening to her.
True though, I am extremely liberal.
My youngest is six.

Not everyone sees things the same way.
