Who is the father of Jesus

If you believe in the trinity ( Father, Son, Holy Ghost ) consider this. It is easy to see that the Son is Jesus. And the Father should be the father of Jesus. But the Bible says in the first chapter of Matthew verse 18 that Mary was with child of the Holy Ghost. Verse 20 repeats that her child was conceived by the Holy Ghost. So isn't the Holy Ghost really the father of Jesus and the Father is not really the father? How can this be explained?

I would imagine the "father" is more of a title not talking specifically about being the father of Jesus.

Not that it makes sense no matter how you examine it but those who live in glass religions shouldn't be throwing stones.

Who is the father of Jesus

For this i will ask you ,"Who was the father of Prophet Adam alisam" , No one , as he is the first men , similarly there is no father of Prophet Eisa alisalm (Jesus),If Allah can create Adam alisalam with out father and mother , why cannot Allah create Prophet Eisa alisalm with out father. Allah can do whatever he wants.

The Holy Ghost is not a person in the same sense that Jesus and God are. The Holy Ghost is best understood as God's Holy Spirit. He uses it to achieve his purposes. It is his active force. One way to look at it is a Jedi would called it "The Force".

God used the spirit to transfer the person of Jesus into Mary. This is further proof that the Trinity teaching is a false teaching that does not make sense.

This has been one of the age old questions.. Baha'is believe the birth of Jesus was "quite miraculous" but we don't believe that God incarnated Himself.. that Jesus was special from His conception is accepted by us..by more in the sense that God was perfectly reflected in Him as in a Mirror.

If you read the Gospel of Matthew .. what does it say about the genealogy of Jesus? It traces from the father of Jesus or through it.. Joseph is the "legal" father of Jesus but note how it reads:

"and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born.."

So some where along the line it may be there was a different perspective that lies in these words.

If DNA analysis was available back then, I'm betting dollars to donuts that joseph was the father if jesus really existed.

Because the Holy Ghost is just as much the Father as the Father

I don't know for sure how to explain those verses, but Luke doesn't put it in quite this same way. It says that the Holy Ghost would "come upon" her and that "the power of the Highest [would] overshadow" her. "The Highest" is generally used to refer to God the Father and not to the Son or the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost definitely did have a role in the conception of Jesus Christ, but Jesus consistently addressed God the Father as "Father." I believe He is the Father of Jesus and not the Holy Ghost. Good question, though.

The verses quoted in the OP indicate that it was the Holy Spirit that made Mary pregnant. That doesn't necessarily mean that the Holy Spirit is what we would call "the father." I liken the process to IVF (whether it's right or wrong is a topic for another thread.) It's a doctor (usually) that co-ordinates the whole process. That doesn't make the doctor "the father."

Acts 20 indicates that God purchased the church with His own blood. In context with the rest of the Bible it's obvious that this passage refers to Jesus on the cross. This means that the blood Jesus spilt on the cross was God's blood. Where did Jesus get God's blood from? Modern science shows that blood type is inherited from our parents. Given that Mary wasn't God (Luke 1 says that she needed a Saviour,) the only way Jesus could have gotten God's blood is for God to be His father.

This (and a whole lot of other passages in the Bible) have led me to the conclusion that the Holy Spirit is what made Mary pregnant with Jesus, but God is actually Jesus father. That said I believe that God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one anyway, so it's sort of a moot point for me.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious. I already know your opinion of God. I had hoped to get a response from the person whom I quoted. If it made your day to post, too, I'm very happy for you.
