How 'perfect' are you?

On a scale of 1 to 100 (100 being highest), how 'perfect' would you say you are, according to your religion?

I am in the same boat as you, Nanda. Except I'll take it a step farther, I think that there is such a thing as 'perfect', but if there is any resemblance I have to that perfection, it is too small to even register as a '1'.

I don't believe that there is such a thing as perfection, because I think the concept of perfection is completely arbitrary. Now, obviously, I don't expect everyone to agree with me; certainly, if you have a god, you'd be inclined to live up to what you believe to be your god's standard of perfection.

I don't think we're supposed to try and 'live up'. That seems like a meaningless pursuit, but I think it's simple enough to try to love as much as possible.

In life if you observe you will find that since everything is going on on its own; it is just perfect. It is so.
Otherhand when you put your mind to it, nothing seems perfect.
Do you get the point?
silence the mind and you will find perfection / nirvana.
Till such times, you live in hell / imperfect world.
Nothing changes except your own peception to it.

Far from it.I know people that try to be "perfect"..they are what I call control freaks..Not only do they micromanage thier own lives..When they see you not doing something the way THEY would they point it out.Its very hard to be around people like that..I mean advice and constructive critisizm is always welcome and healthy when needed or asked for.But trying to control someone else in comparisaon to how you think its "perfectly" done or control the enviroment of others is madening.

People who envison others life's as "perfect" and compare it to thiers or others is just as bad..

Example..One time my MIL came by..she had a picture of one of my husbands cousins ..It was a family picture of her..her husband ,thier little boy and little girl..She gave it to me ..I said aww thanks..I put it on the fridge and she said "arent they the perfect family"?...I said umm...I dont think they are any more perfect than say....mine..or yours or ...I started to get a little aggitated she said that..I said how pray tell are they "the perfect family"...She said...well he is a school principle..and she is a nurse..and they have one little boy who is the oldest and a little baby girl 2nd.(oh and they were exactly 2 years apart)...and they just bought a brand new house....and they just got a golden reitriever puppy..the best family dog you can get..

There I am standing there...a Sahm(in my pajamamas still )...my husband was laid off at the time and we were struggling to start our own computer business and fighting like cats and dogs..and we have 3 sons...Spread out about 6 years each..our house needs new carpet and tile...every room needs somethign done to it..I have (at the time) 1 3 legged rottweiller,another 140lb rottweiller...a little yorkshire terrier that pees all over the house..and 3 cats(shedding)... :help:

What I wanted to say but didnt..is ...you can tell they are a "perfect" family just by that?..Is that what perfection is??..How do YOU know she's not having an affair in the linen closet at the hospital with a doctor???...How do you know he's not whacking off to porn behind her back?..How do you know they dont verbally or physically abuse those kids?..How do you know they arent in debt up to their eyeballs and are fixing to announce they are gettting a divorce becasue they cant stand each other????..How can you tell by looking at a picture and knowing what thier occupations are and the amount and order of gender of their kids are and what kind of dog they have, equals happiness or perfection?

In her mind they were "perfect"...So what in the hell must she of thought of me and my family???..She might as well have said...I wish ya'll were perfect like them.

Not really, you were just showing how different people have different perceptions of what is perfect.

Thanks Hema..that was quite some time ago..I dont let it bother me anymore..Its just interesting to see how some people view "perfection" in others.And use it as a guage somehow to rate others..I really dont think she actually knew what she was implying or indirectly saying about my family..And not just mine either..All the other families that didnt have what she considered the "perfect" set up...

I think she did one of these.. :foot:..and didn't even realize it...I actually feel sorry for her that she thinks so much in a box..
