    Really?

Turned on my Xbox and there it was among the indie genere.

【Xbox One】坐禅 Zazen Zen meditation game Trailer:

I kinda think it's cool in respect it provides a medium for those unable to find a Zendo, but at the same time I wonder where it can go. Yikes!

Under a religious series of titles a slew of ideas....

    Catholic Mass game?

    Wicca ritual game?

    Hindu game of enlightenment?

    Pentecostal laying on hands game?

What cha think? Is there a market for religious games?

Personally I enjoy a good session of Zen Pinball. "0)

So...what do you do? Sit and stare at the X-Box until you reach awareness? Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the Kentucky Holy Snake Handling game.

Games that include religious notions, or religion-related myths, can be quite entertaining and educating. Case-in-point, the game Jotun.

But a video game actually being a part of religions? I can't see that as being effective. Even for something like meditation; if you're focused on the video game, how can you meditate? And if you're meditating, why be playing a game at the same time?

We can play Runescape, and use it for meditation as it is so boring doing the same task for a long time...

Yet there are times i switch it all off to properly meditate, as I'm doing something; therefore personally find our brain has other activities in its task manager...

Only when our brain has nothing going on, can we truly here the soft inner voice.

This idea of Zazen for the masses, sounds a good starting point tho, same as with RS as transitory meditation; yet not real deep Zazen, where distractions don't change the brainwaves. :innocent:

    Hahaha.....

Actually I only saw the trailer for the game.
I'm figuring it's a "guided" meditation session with ambiance, but I'll have to check it out more.

Wonder how the game hits you with the stick? Maybe place the controller on your back and let it rumble a couple of times? *grin*

Apps could suffice enough. I have a timer with bells and instruction can be relayed through the video. I'm guessing this was a kickstarter project. Since online is popular, I wonder if there's a multiplayer for sesshin? =0)

Seriously though, sites like Treeleaf Zendo are provided for those who cannot access a formal Zendo through the computer.
Xbox or ps4 along the same lines as the puter, can provide a similar foundation for people to engauge in meditations. Dunno about dokusan or if any clergy monitor progress in the game. Its an interesting mix of technology and religion all the same.

It has been awhile since religious themed games we're marketed since Nintendo brought out a couple of Christian games. Wasn't very accurate or good based in the reviews.

Good question. Zazen is usually facing a wall, or eyes on the floor. Mainly auditory more than sight much less a television screen.
